I purchased the gate for the top of the stairs, then right after placing the order read some negative reviews and found myself thinking about canceling the order, but very grateful I didn’t! Can’t say your experience will be the same as mine but I here is my list of concerns after purchasing and my reality after receiving it.Fear of the Instillation - the instructions could be better but if you’re used to little projects around the house then it’s pretty easy. I read the instructions, then placed the hinge side against the wall while resting it on a small box so it was raised off the ground, screwed the top bracket in and then the bottom. Next I took the 3 screws out of the gate to adjust the width, put the top wall bracket against the gate as it would be when shut, held the gate against the wall and then screwed it place, did the same for the bottom wall piece, then put the gate adjustment brackets back on, and it was done. Please note, I did not need to use the anchors due to where o was installing, if needed it would add a step to all but if unfamiliar with the process a quick YouTube video should easily help.Not sturdy/opens too easy - I did not know you had to lift the gate as you press down and open so I closed it and found myself struggling to open it, it was sturdy and not opening until I figured out how to properly open it. I have to question if the issues others have had is due to an installation error, there would easily be issues if a piece was not aligned correctly, the gate width not set as wide as it should be to shut securely or the brackets not secured in the wall.Durability of the gate - I have not had it long enough to speak to longevity, but in terms of the product itself, the gate is solid. It is high quality and made ofplastic and metal, like anything I assume it can break under the right conditions, but I have no reason to believe it will just fall apart any day for no reason… if that happens I will definitely update this review.So if on the fence after reading reviews, have a little faith and give it a try, I think you will be grateful

My wife has Alzheimer’s and I have to control the environment. I have a full stairway to second floor we don’t use and needed to block access for fall reasons. I bought the 28” black metal gate and installed over bottom step. It is a very durable well made gate that takes some effort to open and prevents her from accessing the stairs. Instructions were excellent. Does take some basic tools and little bit of of mechanical ability as is screwed in place but is very secure and much better than compression type gates

I was hoping to install and push the button and swing the gate open and close.... It's not quite like that. You have to lift after button pushing, but even that is confusing after putting the gate support brackets back on. No where in the instruction booklet nor numerous videos explain this. I just happen to watch a guy's video where he lifts the gate to open and close.... Installation is easy. Gate and parts are awesome. It's a very nice gate. I eliminated the lift by attaching the gate "barely" to click close with the bottom not engaging at all. It works very well it looks good it is what it is. If using for safety, definitely install as directed. Good Luck

Decided to replace my old worn out gate with this one as there is no step over bar. Very happy that instructions were included and there was an online tutorial. The gate latch is a little stiff, but it’s new. It lifts up to open. The gate seems very sturdy, hoping it will last for a few years. It is used for a dog gate before he enters the home to make sure he’s clean.It will slam shut at partial opening but stays open at full opening.All in all I am very happy with it at this time.

I bought this to replace an old store bought pressure mount pet gate that was constantly being left free standing and accidentally knocked over and slamming down onto our hard floor. My pets are pretty well trained so they wouldn't try to pass our old ones even free standing but the old ones weren't walk through and where often relocated/misplaced or just in the way.I love that this one mounts securely to the wall, mounting was easy once we figured out placement. The included "ruler" was useful. Our walls seem to be uneven but the included spacers were also very helpful. If moutned properly - it works well as described. Made of quality material. Nice gate.

This gate is great, BUT the hardware that comes with it sucks. I am an experienced general contractor and mechanically inclined. If you have to install this in an opening that is not perfectly plumb on both sides it is hard to adjust to create a good latch. It come with platic "shim" washers for this purpose but because of the surface area, if said shim washers are installed in drywall, the drywall will fail and crush in short order. To summarize, if you are not installing this in a wood door opening or directly onto a stud, you will have to toggle bolt a wood backer on your wall and attach the gate to that if you want it to last longer than a few weeks. Also, keep the intructions and template for when it does fail, it is a lot more difficult to install without the template.

I bought 2 of these gates and we are satisfied with the strength and function. The instructions could be a bit more clear and I see why some reviews point that out, but Im reviewing the gates and not the instructions. I was able to install the 2nd gate faster as a result of learning from the 1st. The weakness very well could be the locking mechanism but once everyone using them learns how to properly operate them this could help. I really like the way it stays open when you want it open and it has a self closing feature that works well if you are able to install gate plumb and level. I've dealt with a lot of baby gates through the years and some are a pain to operate especially when you're not familiar with that particular gate. I am a proponent of teaching our babies to stay off the gate as a no-no and if using a lot of baby force it could fail. But as far as design, build quality, along with ease of use the Babeloi products are great

We have 5 bullmastiffs who live indoors, so having a strong reliable indoor gate is vital. This one does the job, unlike other brands. Our dogs simply barge through those with hardly any effort at all. Because this is bolted to the door frame our dogs can’t barge through it.

After our big 'ol Boxer-mix took a tumble down the carpeted stairs, we knew we had to prevent him from free access to the stairs when we are not watching him (he has some arthritis in his legs that doesn't help him with stairs).The first gates we bought were white plastic (garbage). He pushed through the first white plastic gate in a record 3 minutes!! We were able to return those useless gates to Amazon for a full refund.Then, I spotted this gate. Love the useful video that you can watch before making the decision to purchase it. We bought 3. The metal is strong and also attractive. Our house is 125 years old (so, doubt there is a straight line / wall to be had) - and my son was able to get all 3 installed securely. On 2 of them, we had to forego the bottom latch - but no problem - since the top latch is solid and really clinches the trick. So easy to open and close. One is installed outside on the back deck above the stairs. Not sure how it will do outside in our Canadian winters. However, I am sure it will be fine with a little WD40, etc - if any of the outdoor element issues arise.Our pup is 100 lbs of pure love!! These gates stop our boy - plus look great (smart at the same time).

These gates are easy to install. Beautiful looking and extremely safe for children and pets.

I wouldn’t recommend this gate as it isn’t user friendly. For every advantage there is a disadvantage.If you secure the gate accordingly, once you press the button handle to open the gate it doesn’t open because there’s three latches and two of the three latches don’t release making it impossible to open. Alternatively, there are three clips in the middle of the gate to adjust the width you require for the area. These clips can be loosened so you can finally open the gate, but it is no longer secure as it should be.I believe this product should be revised where once you press on the button handle to open the gate, all 3 latches should unlatch to open the gate. The installation went excellent until I learned there was no easy way around the operation of the gate. I’m just disappointed that I placed holes in my wall to learn the gate wasn’t designed very well and I wouldn’t have known until the end. I also read another review that stated the same issues.I will be returning the gate.
