The Weaver's Book of 8-Shaft Patterns: From the Friends of Handwoven

Arrived badly damagedJust forced through the Letterbox, so very disappointed with that.The book itself, looks like it has an amazing selection of patterns though. And is well worth purchasing, whether you're a beginning or more advanced.

Loads of information & patterns. Great.

This is an excellent book with a lifetime’s worth of weaving patterns in it.Illustrations and photos are all black and white, but book was first published in 1991.Book is divided into 25 chapters and gives instructions for warping hundreds of patterns, from simple twills, to much more complicated designs. Each pattern has a photo of the finished cloth and the drafting and tree align order shown in diagrammatic form

I bought this is a gift for a friend who's new to weaving and has just bought an 8-shaft loom. Although this book has lots of patterns specifically for the 8-shaft, it would be much better if the photos were in colour.

Informative, brilliant book for weavers. I like the fact it is in black and white as it frees the imagination. Would not, as a Weaver, be without this book.

The book is an excellent guide for 8 shaft patterns. I have recently started using an 8 shaft loom and found it quie inspiring. Wiuld recommend.

Despite the fact this is published by the leading hand weaving publisher and they charge a premium for this, they still publish in black and white. That was acceptable 40 years ago and other publishers can manage colour, but the publisher is content to rest on their laurels and produce this let-down of a book. They weren't woven in black in white so why not actually do a proper job and print something that isn't poorly defined shades of dull grey.You have to go onto the Ravelry Warped Weavers forum thread "Strickler 8 shaft patterns in colour/color " or search the project records to get a proper idea of what these look like.
