Perfect summer read!!
This book is the ultimate reality escape. It’s got all the dreamy, perfect summer vibes. The story follows Bridget, her brother Felix, and her bestie Lucy. Honestly, it felt like a cozy blanket. The side characters totally popped, even though the main focus was Lucy and Felix’s relationship. But the friendship between Lucy and Bridget? That was everything. The way the author nailed female friendship was so relatable. As the story bounced between life and love, it really came together. The Prince Edward Island setting is so dreamy, and it made me wanna find a friend like Bridget! The book also dives into some real stuff like relationship growth, midlife crises, losing loved ones, and how life can feel hard, but the right people make it easier. No cap, I’m obsessed with this book and can’t wait to check out more of CARLEY FORTUNE’S work. Highly recommend!

Another refreshing summer read 🌻✨️
This Summer Will Be Different is a captivating love story set against the idyllic backdrop of Prince Edward Island. Carley Fortune's masterful storytelling transports readers to a world of lush landscapes, deep friendships, and undeniable chemistry. The relationships in this book were really strong, especially the friendship between Bridget and Lucy. They were more like sisters, always there for each other no matter what. Their sister-like connection provides a solid foundation for the simmering tension between Lucy and Felix, the classic "best friend's brother" trope executed to perfection. I loved how their story was told through flashbacks and present day, really building up their chemistry and showing how their relationship changed over time. Their romance was emotional and raw, and I couldn’t get enough of it. I love forbidden romance a lot, so I ate this one up. The novel's refreshing departure from typical romantic conflict adds to its appeal, offering a genuine and heartwarming story. Overall, this book is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance seeking a tale that is both emotionally resonant and undeniably entertaining. You bet I added PEI to my travel bucket list after reading this book.

I see the carley fortune hype now😌🧡✨
When Lucy first visits the beautiful Prince Edward Island, she never expects to meet a local guy, Felix, have an instant connection with him. They have an undeniable chemistry and giving into it is easy. But then Lucy realises is this Felix is also her best friend's younger brother and very much off limits. Over the years, Lucy and Felix cross paths multiple times, aware each time they must not acknowledge their connection specially in front of her best friend. But now Lucy is back on the island a week before her best friend's wedding and this time she has promised herself to stay away from Felix. Carley Fortune is such a popular summer romance author and this was my first time reading one of her books. Suffice to say, I'll be reading more of her books. 💕 While I love me a good romcom, sometimes all I want is an angsty, emotional, make-my-heart-ache romance and this was all of that and more. I loved the right person-wrong timing trope, the angst and the yearning so much! It got me all in the feels and did make me cry which made me love it even more. Felix was the perfect book boyfriend! He was quiet, kind, compassionate and I loved how much he loved Lucy. When MMCs notice the small things about the FMCs and do little gestures around it, it really is one my favourite things in a book and this has it!! The small town charm and the forbidden romance is not always my cup of tea but I was rooting for Lucy and Felix so hard that I just sat down and devoured it in one sitting. 🙈💘 I cannot wait to read more of @carley books and I need all my romance girlies to read this too😩💘✨ 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

Five years ago, Lucy had never gone to Prince Edward Island before, but after becoming fast best friends with Bridget, a native, while living in Toronto, she plans to vacation there with her for a short time to meet her family and see everything the glorious island has to offer. Bridget’s flight gets delayed, and so Lucy is tasked with entertaining herself until she’s joined by her best friend. What Lucy doesn’t anticipate is Felix, the man she meets at a Shack on the island, making eyes at her behind the counter. Their connection is electric and instant, and after a back-and-forth flirting match, they’re back at his beach house, in his sheets. But when she discovers Felix is Wolf, Bridget’s brother—aptly nicknamed just as Lucy was Bee to Bridget—the stark realisation hits that they might have crossed an unerasable line. Every year, Lucy tries to fight it, the pull toward Felix. Yet, it’s more apparent than ever that every time they are in one another’s orbit, it’s a dangerous mission to keep from entwining their limbs together. Lucy doesn’t want Bridget to feel as if history is repeating itself, her last best friend having vanished from her life after dating her brother, and so their connection becomes a buried secret, only awakened by summer, no matter how much more the other needs. But this year is different: Bridget is getting married, and yet flower-shop-owner Lucy is back on Prince Edward Island at her request, mere days before the wedding, under unclear circumstances. What isn’t Bridget telling Lucy? Felix wasn’t supposed to be there, complicating things further for Lucy, but now he looks at her with a difference that makes Lucy question if their illicit attraction is deeper than a fleeting moment. Heart on the line in what has become her favourite place on Earth, Lucy is faced with decisions she hadn’t expected to make, and when the truth is revealed, it’s going to take everything to keep her feet on solid ground. Overall, This Summer Will Be Different was breathtakingly beautiful, a summer dream where romance blossoms on every page. Carley has this uniquely mystical way of writing love stories about characters that truly feel like they were made for one another, each chapter magnetic enough to keep me turning pages fast. I loved the flashbacks, rolling back summers and autumn moments with these characters that became a comfort. There was so much depth and meaning in Lucy’s story, and grief plays a huge part in the decisions she makes, true to the way loss changes a person. Felix might be my new favourite leading man from Carley, and I was utterly swept up by the bond he shared with Lucy. The Clark family were wholesome to the core, and I adored Bridget and all her eccentric ways, but especially the way she and Lucy loved each other. Their friendship was something to be truly treasured. And like I had predicted, this book itself is also another one to treasure from Carley. Lucy and Felix are my new favourite couple from her (sorry, Percy and Sam!) miles ahead with this effervescently intimate story that has left a distinctly golden imprint on my heart. Five everlasting stars.

Once again, a great story by Carley Fortune. The characters were lovable, their background story well written and it made me want to visit Prince Edward Island. I love summer romances and if the country or city where the story takes place is the main character’s happy place, it’s even better. The only thing that bothered me was why they couldn’t be together. The sister forbade it and so what ? They are grown-ups, not teenagers. Just talk like adults and be happy maybe ? But, I’m a sucker for second chance romance so who am I to judge ? I really liked the friendship between Lucy and Bridget even if Bridget not talking was really frustrating. When she finally opened up, my heart broke ! And I must say I wasn’t expecting this ! I was clearly thinking she was pregnant. It’s rare to surprise me in romance ! I love when friendship is realistic. People grow up and things change and sometimes it’s hard to adapt. That was really beautiful and well written. I don’t even know what to say about Felix ! He was so thoughtful, nice and gorgeous (yes the cleft chin and the piercing blue eyes did it for me), (I’m weak). The ending was beautiful and so peaceful. A town can be your happy place, your significant other as well and sometimes it’s both.

I loved this book! While reading it gave me all the feels, the heart dropping angst, the fluttering of butterflies in my stomach, the giddy feeling with a big, dopey smile going across my face. Everything I need and require to make a romance a 5 star read for me! I'm going to be honest here. I went in with a bit of trepidation when I picked this book up, because although I liked Every Summer After. Fortune's second book, Meet Me at The Lake, was just okay for me, so I didn't really know where this one was going to fall. I can easily say this one is my favorite by Fortune yet! It was perfect. Everything I wanted and then some! I fell in love with the characters. I loved the female protagonist, Lucy, her love for flowers, running her own flower shop, and her dream of one day having her own cut flower farm. If I hadn't been so stressed out the last two weeks with my lack of success of my very own Floret Farm flower seeds that I direct sowed in my garden, I'd probably love the fact of how much Erin and her Floret Flower Farm was mentioned in this book. But that is an entire different matter. 😅 Then we get Felix. He was amazing. He was everything you'd want the male main character to be and more. I loved how this book started out. My jaw literally hit the floor, and then with the back and forth timeline of then and now really build this story up for me. And lastly, the setting. Oh my gosh. The setting. 😍 I had never even heard of Prince Edward Island (I had to look it up on the map), but Fortune's writing and the descriptions of this place makes me want to visit right away. It had me craving oysters and wanting that laid back, small town ocean vibe asap! This book would obviously be perfect by the water while you are enjoying your own vacation, but with the way Fortune writes about PEI, the food and drinks, etc, you could easily escape to this place straight on your couch at home. And really that's just what we all are looking for when we pick up a book, right? I am really shocked the two romance books that released this spring and that I haven't expected much out of are so far some of my favorite reads this year, and for me that is a lesson to never write off an author or think you they can't give you something that you will absolutely love!
