Great book with images, packaging damaged the book
A great book for those interested in design and styling. Text and images combined which I really like. Sadly the way the book was packaged without any protection has led to damaging of all corner and the spine (international shipping). They could've at least wrapped some bubblewrap around for protection...

LookBook: Color Photos, 4 Sections with 5 Examples Each, but Missing Some Information
I’ve got to say it: This 2002 hard-cover book with dust cover has 225 semi-glossy pages, with at least 1 color photo per page. The photos function as an Ethan Allen LookBook and each of the 4 groupings contains 5 examples, which creates a definite mood. Following these groupings are: Kid Stuff, Emphasis on Accents, and Store Directory. The 4 main style groupings are: American Formal, European Classics, Contemporary Living, and Casual Country. Because these are all gorgeous styles, I would be perfectly happy combining items from amongst the different groups and then tying them together. The book, however, is missing 2 main book sections: an Index and a Bibliography for further resources on each style. The Bibliography is especially helpful to people who are new to a topic. Bibliographies give lists of great magazines, books, videos, and web sites, among other things, for the novice to gain more knowledge about decorating. A good example would be books on the founding and growth of Ethan Allen’s 300+ stores, craftsmen involved in making each piece of furniture, the types of woods, upholstery, and other fabrics used in Ethan Allen products, and more exploration of the 4 main style groupings. The author and publisher is Ethan Allen, Upper Saddle River, NJ. The text is written by Katherine Samon.Note: instead of buying a new piece of furniture, it might be better to refinish/ fix a piece that is still stylish and beautiful. The reader can to take Billy Baldwin’s advice: “The first rule of decorating is that you can break almost all of the rules.” But before you can do that, you have to first learn all of the rules! Buying furniture by a pre-set packaged room, like ‘Rooms to Go’, is ultimately boring. Ethan Allen buyers should not fall into this trap, although the products are set up to do just that.Buying furniture requires knowledge of design basics, color and texture, lighting, flooring, wall and window treatments, just to name a few.Ethan Allen showrooms will have its sales and marketing people tackle all of these topics with its customers.Last but not least: Your book will probably end up on your coffee table instead of your library shelf, to be paged through, with new lessons learned and then later utilized AND dreamt about!
