Not much new or detailed info, inexperienced author
This book is essentially a summary of a bunch of other books on similar topics. I would recommend the ketogenic athlete book by Phinney and Volek (which I also have) over this one, because it has a lot of information on original research and it explains things in more detail. This book is shorter and gets most of its information from just quoting other people's books (such as the Phinney and Volek one I just mentioned) and often refers you to those other sources instead of fully explaining the concepts. But as a succinct, not-too-deep summary, this book does fit the bill. It's written almost like a long blog post or magazine article rather than a detailed and well-researched book. One big issue I had with it, though, is that the author reveals towards the end of the book that she herself had only been on the diet for 4-5 weeks when she wrote it, so it's not exactly an expert's opinion. Many times she talks about how easy something is (like finding variety in the diet) and I would venture to say that she doesn't really have the cred to back herself up. So this book is basically a quick intro to ketogenic diets for athletes that is written by a newbie. But it's fine if that's what you're looking for.

Ketogenic Diet for Athletes is a great summary of what really works for those who want ...
Finally a book that combines nutritional ketogenic eating with correct training protocols. I have been in a state of ketosis for 10 months and the results have been phenomenal. Ketogenic Diet for Athletes is a great summary of what really works for those who want to be an athlete and stay healthy. Charlotte recommends the training methods of Phil Maffetone, something I have used for over 15 years. Ketogenic living and low heart rate training works if you have knowledge, patience, and refuse to listen to others when they say you are "nuts".

Finally some info on keto with training
I started keto and lost weight quick. I started my ironman training and was freaking out on what to eat keto to stay on course. So I was trying all kinds of so called keto drinks for energy and I kept having less energy and started gaining weight back. After reading this book I realized I need to train without all the drinks and work my way into ketoses again and see how I preform on my own fat.

A very helpful quick reference guide for athletes.
A very helpful quick reference guide for athletes.I wish it had gone more indepth about certain things, but it had some other things in it that I hadn't even thought about that I found super helpful - especially the MAF process!!

Good overview, not detailed
I thought the book gave a good overview of a ketogenic diet for athletes, however it was not very detailed. Most of the information could be found for free online, but it did save some time. Overall, not bad as an overview. Glad I paid less for the Kindle version.

Like a Ladies Skirt, โLong enough to cover the subject but short enough to keep it interestingโ
Excellent for Beginners, Like an English professor once told me when writing an article, Itโs like a Ladies Skirt should be, โ Itโs Long enough to cover the subject, But Short enough to keep it interesting โ

Very informative! A great read for any athlete that wants to take their training to the next level.
This a fantastic book to understand the benefits and common mistakes many make when first starting a keto diet. Charlotte provides all the necessary information and guidance to plan a correct ketogenic diet for your training regime and competition. She was also kind enough to respond to emails I asked for further advice. A great read from a caring and experienced athlete.

Probably wouldn't recommend
Informative with many good references, but reads like a undergraduate dissertation. Not sure how much I trust some of the advice.
