fresh
As someone who loves to explore different cuisines, I've found the seeds to be especially useful in Indian cooking, adding that authentic flavor to curries and dals. And they're not just for savory dishes; I've even experimented with them in cookies and pastries, where they add an intriguing twist.Having these black cumin seeds on my spice rack has been a delight. They're a must-have for anyone looking to add a nutritious and flavorful boost to their meals.

Worth trying
If this is a spice you have never tried, I recommend going for it. Black "cumin" is a nice spice with a different flavor but it is not overpowering or hard to tolerate as a new flavor. If you want to try them these are the way to go. They are fresh and importantly organic. Very good.If you toast them in a skillet the flavor blooms nicely. You can sprinkle them on top of foods as is or you can use a mortar and pestle and really get the flavor out of them and add them to recipes (toasted or right out of the bag).

Taste like they have been soaked in gasoline
These seeds taste like they were soaked in gasoline. Threw away the entire bag.

More convenient packaging needed
Good product but it would be more practical if it came in a jar.

very nice!
these don't smell like much when they're in the bag but nigella seeds add such a nice flavor to foods! They're black cumin but they don't smell or taste like cumin; they're very different. The flavor isn't too challenging to an American palate so I think if you're looking to try something new, this is a safe bet that can open up a lot of possibilities.

Amazing flavors
Product: Herbal Wind Black Cumin Seed - Organic Nigella Seeds, 7 Oz ~$10The Good: Flavors are amazing. This is an excellent spice, different than normal cumin in many subtle ways, but works with it. This spice has been used forever, and for good reason. It's a great finisher for things like curries (see image). It has many names, often called simply "black seed".The Bad: Nothing about this product. There are several health claims that are under scholarly review, and should be taken with a proper amount of skepticism until appropriate rigorous studies are done. This is the first time I've used this product, and it really completes some dishes flavor-wise and aesthetically. It is not actually cumin, and has an almost fennel/anise/cumin/cardamon flavor.

USDA Organic RAW Nigella Seeds
This USDA Organic RAW Black Cumin/Nigella seeds, from Turkey are USDA certified Organic as well as Kosher. That is a plus for me. I got these for there use as a spice. They taste best roasted/toasted in a dry frying pan until they pop. I used them like I would a poppy seed, or sesame seed. They are often used on Naan bread and have a onion, smokey flavor. I tried them on a salad as well as a topping on rice! They are quality Nigella seeds. These seeds are often used medicinaly for anti-inflamartory and other reasons. There is no scientific proof that they function medicinally. As a spice, these are tasty, be sure to try them in a dry pan toasted before. use. They should be great on lentil soup and other soups. The best by date is 2 3/4 years out from when I received them in a resealable easy to store bag! I will enjoy trying these with other foods!

As another reviewer did...I want to point out this is not your standard cumin
I will shamefully admit to getting the wrong thing here. I thought this was the cumin most of us Americans are probably used to, and since we seem to use it a lot, thought this would be great. While there is nothing wrong with this black cumin, in fact it seems quite good quality, it's not what I was expecting and I honestly wasn't sure what to do with it!That being said the flavor is not exotic or anything, just a little different, and there are lots of recipes and ideas out there. Great for curry dishes and apparently some possible health benefits? Hard to judge that one though.
