Great Alternative methods for learning.
I purchased these for my 7yo. Great books for mathematics. Give insight on alternative methods that are outside the traditional teachings. Give pictures to assist with understanding of concepts. I do wish the answer key wasn’t in a separate book. So I have to purchase these answer key, textbook, and workbook all separately.

Mix of activities, not boring for a 5year old
We started with 1a even though our kiddo is just 5. The pages are black and white, but we spice things up a bit by coloring. I like the way that the activities are geared for children, not just writing all the time. It helps that it is not too much workbook-y, it is a mix of different activities and they use different objects. Singapore math seems to be a good way of teaching mathematics, and my son is having a blast!

Great program, my older child has learned a lot ...
I use Singapore Math to homeschool my children. I have one child in 2nd grade using 2a/2b this year, and my kindergartener just started 1a/1b. I figured we will work through 1a slowly - it is very, very doable for a kindergartener and does get harder as you move along. My now 2nd grader did 1a/1b last year within one year, and my plan is to do 1a for k this year, and 1b + for first grade next year with my younger child. Great program, my older child has learned a lot and Singapore really builds the foundations that the kids need. My 2nd grader is leap years ahead of her public school peers and we are barely through half of 2a at this point. We move slowly, take our time to ensure mastery and really enjoy the program. I prefer a rigorous, classical approach to homeschooling and Singapore achieves that in math for me. Get the home instructor's guide and textbook to go along with these workbooks - you'll need them if you want to do it right.

So well done!
This was PERFECT for my first grader. I will keep using this curriculum with my other three children when they are ready. I loved the instructional book that went with it and all of the pictures that represented the concepts. It was exactly what my child needed for understanding the math. Well done, Singapore Math!

interesting approach to math
I didn't understand Singapore math so saw my friend using this for her kid's public school and got this to check it out.this has many word problems and visual concepts of math. some are kinda weird to be honest, but the best way I describe it is an early example of SAT math problems. that is probably why it is so popular because it may help improve standardized test scores.i don't know though. I kicked butt on the SAT and PSAT math sections growing up and used very traditional methods of learning math. I did however do many practice test questions for SAT as I got older which i know for sure helped my scores. I don't find singapore math essential nor ideal. more gimmicky. i can understand why some people don't like it as it can be a bit confusing at times. math like most things in life you get good at by lots of practice and memorization. not much can substitute for that.

Math is Fun!
I'm really happy with these math books! I'm using them in conjunction with Math-U-See and my boys seem to be retaining more info. I like the very visual approach to it because I am very visual. I think it is giving my boys more tools to choose from when doing math on their own. I will be continuing with Singapore Math for the foreseeable future.

Singapore Math is Great Homeschool Choice
We love the Singapore Math program. It is a little more challenging then some other math programs and I am always trying to challenge my children so these books were great. The price is also very reasonable. We are very pleased with the program and would suggest it to anyone who wants to challenge their children.

Great Program
We homeschool and have used Singapore math for all three of my kids. They make math very visual and introduce word problems very early on in the program....so kids learn to apply the concepts to real life problems from the get-go. This is not exactly how I remember math, but I believe my own math skills have improved from teaching my kids with this program!
