Venture Electronics VE Monk IE in-Ear Headphones - Earphones

I wanted this review to be as honest as possible, so I took a week to actually get to know the Biggies and Smalls prior to writing this review. Upon looking back now I see that the item is currently unavailable, and if it is not available again then I feel like I was fortunate to decide to buy the package while on the Amazon website. For the price paid you get a lot more than your money's worth. The Biggies do take a bit of burn in time, at least on my experience, but the sound was fine as long I was playing them through something with the power to drive them properly. Reviews across the internet have said that they sound a bit dark, and this is accurate, but with particular varieties of music they work well. Also, the advice to not listen to them with a perfect seal rang true in my case and definitely helped with a more balanced listening experience. The smalls? They're just really good easy to drive IEMs. There were no surprises there. In all honesty there were no surprises anywhere. With my previous experience with VE, which was simply the Monks, I realized the quality in no way reflected the price that I paid for the product. I felt like I was almost stealing them they were such a great value. Are these as good a value? I'd say no. But a five star item? Definitely. Considering that you get a special edition pair of Monks along with the two pairs of IEMs, you still make out like a bandit on this deal. The decision to make both pairs black seems like a smart one considering earlier reviews that I've seen mentioning the fact that debris could get caught in the cracks of the device.My only small question is whether the special edition Monk's metal base was supposed to be attached to the end of the aux cable or not. My pair came with it unattached as pictured, but it does not detract from the sound quality. And really, with any sort of real use I suppose that it eventually would have come unattached regardless. Like I said, I'm not even certain whether or not this piece was supposed to be glued on or not.

Just got the biggies (and smalls). Using them with my lgv30 and really loving them!I don't really get the reviews that go on and on about how dark they are (admittedly I'm not an audiophile).The three included cables are great too. I'm using the smalls with the cable that has a mic to make a great headset..Totally happy with them, thanks!

Both in ears are very muddy, nor great. I've got lots of other earbuds that I would rate much higher. You do get a lot in the package, the three cables are decent quality and the VE Monks(non in-ear) sound great.
