Rizzoli And Isles: Season 5 [DVD] [2015]

Season 5. Detective series in which the lead character is a detective and the second is a medical examiner. Unlike some of the other detective series on Prime, the characters are more ‘normal’ – they don’t have superhuman memory (Unforgettable) or deductive / reasoning skills (Elementary). However, this makes the characters, the relationship between the characters and the stories a bit bland and not particularly exceptional. Overall, maybe not as good as Elementary or NCIS, but it didn’t irritate me as much as Unforgettable. Its ok, but not exceptional...

Absolutely love the series & all the characters/actors except Angela Rizzoli/Lorraine Bracco - she makes me want to scream - thank god my mother was anything but the narcissistic interfering witch Angela is - not sure I'm going to be able to make it through the rest of the series - I'm just starting series 5. She has annoyed me from the start of the series. So sad to learn about the suicide of Lee Thompson Young - lovely character Barry and actor Lee.

I have always enjoyed Rizzoli and Isles series

I knew Jane would have to lose her baby, just wasn't sure how or when. Still, I suppose it would alter the whole ethos of the series if she hadn't and it would lose a lot of the urgency surrounding everything as she is very energetic and the whole series would change so much that the operators would probably feel that they would have to stop making the series.

This isn't the slickest or most plot driven crime drama, but it is gentle entertainment in the 'Castle' mould. It doesn't ask anything much of the viewer, but keeps them entertained without excessive violence. The leads are all capable actors. Good after a long day at work/demanding toddlers etc. But why is the theme tune a corrupted irish jig when the main family is Boston Italian?

Another great series. I love the chemistry between Jane and Maura. I found Angela rather more annoying than usual this season with her interference and lack of boundaries, but that just goes to show how 'real' she is. The writers are still coming up with interesting crimes and new situations, and I've thoroughly enjoyed this season.

A good police series to watch.
