Worked well for me. Make sure you get the right length. My seat replacement was discontinued and the few left I found online were $90. I bought this kit and replaced only the hinge. Seat was still perfect. It took me 10 minutes to fix and happy with the result.

There are two cylinders that serve as the hinge. One cylinder would not slide into the hole far enough to allow the unit to fit between the seat. The whole had some burs that I removed but still the cylinder would not go far enough in. I think the hole the cylinder goes into was crooked. I ended up using the two new cylinder hinges and put them into my old unit. I also had to use the new removable plate in the old unit. The lack of quality control is probably why there is a high return on this item. I should have sent it back but probably would have ended up with the same problem. I should get my money back. What has happened to the quality that made Kohler a great company.

This product is a perfect replacement for the quiet close mechanism for Kohler Elongated Toilet Seats with a 7" opening between the hinges. The hinge covers snap on and off, which is an improvement over Kohler's hinged design. The entire installation, including removing the broken assembly, took under 5 minutes with needle nose pliers and a flat head screwdriver. Saving $43 over purchasing an entire new toilet seat or $10 over the Kohler brand replacement assembly is a no brainer. 2 Notes: 1) Save the hardware and quick nuts from the original toilet seat brackets to reuse. This kit doesn't come with them. 2) MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE AND VERIFY THE OPENING BETWEEN THE HINGES BEFORE PURCHASING! If it's not 7" this won't work.

I used this part to replace the soft close hinge on my Kohler elongated toilet seat. The original soft close mechanism wore out so I bought this one. Size, fit and colour are all very good to the original part. The reason I deducted 1 star was for the functionality of it. It’s a little stuff to open at first but I am ok with that. There is however a little “catch” when lifting the seat up about half way. It gets really tight and you almost have to let the seat go and then go back to lifting it up. It is almost like it needs a half second break while being lifted all the way up. Not a major inconvenience but it’s just an annoyance.
