Q: Is this 1 or 2 trestles

The trestles are sold as single items. I needed two so I purchased two. Both trestles arrived in one parcel. I hope this helps.

Q: What is the width of the trestle by width I mean the bar upon which the work top will sit?

The width of the adjustable bar is 5.5 cm. If this is not used then the width of the trestle alone is 9.5 cm

Q: Why can I only order 1? Do I have to order each item twice. Keeps reducing down to 1

I had to order two came separate days as well

Q: How do you fit the tabletop to the trestle?

I do not use mine as a permanent platform for a table top but only for the temporary set up of a quilting frame, for which the combination of 2 trestles and a door blank works well For a permanent arrangement, I would think you'd have to securely fix the adjustable portion of the trestle to both the table top above and to the trestle itself beneath.
