Works well with nimh rechargeable batteries
Imo the reception on both am and fm is excellent. The sound quality exceeds my expectations. The radio works well using nimh batteries. Another radio I bought which takes two aa batteries will not turn on using nimh batteries. A good buy for $10 if you want a radio That uses aa batteries. If you don't mind a radio that uses an easily swappable rechargeable lithium battery( BL-5C), then the Boespatr B03 or Retekess v115 would imo be a better choice. These other radios are under $20 and also play mp3 files on a micro SD card.

Designed for walks
I ordered this item because I was looking for a radio with AM band coverage in addition to FM band coverage available on my smartphone and MP3 player. I planned on using it for one hour walks in a nearby forested park, with valleys and summits, located about 16 km (10 mi ) from the FM broadcast towers. The radio received the broadcasts without the built in antenna extended; clearly in mono but irregularly in stereo sound (using stereo ear plugs) — especially in deep ravines. This was not unexpected given FM broadcasts rely on line of sight propagation. Other important design features: sturdy chassis with rounded edges, built in belt clip, backlit screen, securely situated ear jack, screen lock, uses rechargeable nimh AA batteries. This radio met or exceeded my expectations.
