Convenient and functional
I've been using this pretty much daily for the last month and a half. It's plug and play, at least with Windows, so it was ready to go out of the box. The battery life is well above what I expected, as I have not charged it a single time since receiving it. I turn it off whenever it's not in use, but it also puts itself to sleep automatically after no inputs are detected for a while. Not sure the exact time. The only issues I have are a result of the 2.4GHz connection, all of which are very typical and shouldn't be blamed on the product. Things like signal getting choppy when the space between the receiver and keyboard are blocked. I've experienced this in every similar wireless keyboard and mouse I've used. That aside, it functions as expected. The keyboard is a nice size and the buttons are easy to press even with large thumbs. The backlight for the entire board is bright enough to see in the dark, and simple enough to change. The audio controls, scroll wheel, left and right click, and other various functional buttons are in convenient and intuitive positions. It is quick to pick up exactly how to make best use of the keyboard. All in all, it's a very good product and I'd highly recommend it exactly as it's advertised.

Great Product for HTPC or Likewise Computers
Absolutely love the thing. Bought this for use with my HTPC and it does the job perfectly. The track pad works great, and while I hate track pads, it's much better than having to have somewhere to put a mouse and the room to move it around. The scroll wheel functions just like a normal scroll wheel on a mouse, and has a "middle click" button. The volume buttons are an awesome convenience. The connection is solid and I haven't had a problem with it whatsoever as well. The RGB is either the rainbow effect (it doesn't move or flash) or other solid colors you can choose from; not much customization, but that's not what I bought it for, and shouldn't be what you buy it for either. The brightness of the keys is great in a completely dark room which I do use it in. It's super lightweight, easy to use, and fits in the palm of your hand. The keys feel as nice as they can for a device of this price and size; you're not meant to be typing essays on this of course anyways. Also very impressed to learn that the battery is removable when it arrived! So if the battery dies, no need to throw the whole unit away, just buy a new battery. It also charges via USB-C which is very nice, and does come with a short cable if you don't have one. I will definitely buy another one when I'm in need of a small control device for a PC like this.

Well-executed, easy-to-use mini keyboard/trackpad combo
So, let’s start with the cons, since I could go on about the pros. As someone with large hands, I definitely wish this product was a bit bigger, or at least more ergonomically designed. I often cover the wireless sensors with my finger and have to hold it a bit awkward to type. I also have found that sometimes my PC will randomly stop accepting the mouse input altogether, and I have to get up and unplug/reinsert the dongle to get it to function. That could be an isolated issue, but it still stands. As for things I like, it’s really easy to use and the backlight for the keyboard is bright when it is on. The track pad surface is just big enough, and as much as I like the built in scroll wheel and left/right click buttons, I usually find myself using the trackpad for all mouse use. It’s pretty light, and it lasts quite a while on a single charge, even if you’re prone to accidentally leaving it on like myself. All the buttons are very responsive, and while I don’t use the media and volume keys, I’m glad they’re included. The addition of more full size keyboard keys like Ctrl and Shift also allows for an easy experience when copying or moving files around in folders or filesystems, as well as making keyboard shortcuts a snap. Overall, if you’re looking for something that’s easy to use for a HTPC or gaming computer on a TV, this is a great solution. However, if you’re modifying lots of files at once, you may find yourself better suited getting something like a more typical, “full-size” keyboard-and-trackpad combo. This was a quick solution for me, personally, since my previous mini keyboard remote stopped working after it took a hard tumble. It suits my needs, and Rii has always been a brand that makes the odd products that seem to fit what I’m looking for, with good quality at that.

Perfect for HTPC, better than anything else in its class.
The Rii X8 mini keyboard has an unexpectedly high build quality feel to it. The keyboard keys have just the right amount of resistance (for me anyways), but they are not loose or wobbly nor have to be pressed "just right" like a lot of other mini keyboards I've tried. I've tried a LOT of similar style mini keyboards for my HTPC computers and the X8 definitely has the highest quality keys/buttons of all of them. They keys are that kind of softish rubbery type material that is common on higher price tier devices. They don't feel cheap or wonky. The back light, a feature sorely missing from most mini keyboards, I think is just right. There are a few colors to cycle thru. None of the colors are vibrant or rich but they do the job and, perhaps most importantly, are not too bright, so as to be distracting during a movie and draw too much from the battery. The touchpad is just a skoosch better than most of the other comparable devices I've tried. I think they all use the exact same hardware for the TouchPad, but the X8 has a bit of a textured feel that somehow make it feel just a little easier to be precise. Like the back light, the touchpad does its job adequately. The wheel: What sets the Rii X8 apart from anything else I've seen is the scroll wheel. I already have a multitude of mini keyboards and wasn't even looking for one, but saw the X8 by chance in Amazon recommended and had to try the scroll wheel. What a fantastic thing they've done here. It's a total game changer for the mini-keyboard market, IMO. I think most people who have tried using mini keyboards full time for HTPC (or anything else) would probably agree with me that what ultimately kills the experience with these is trying to scroll. I've bought so many of this and similar style mini keyboards with integrated touchpad, just trying to find one that had good - or even decent and consistent, two finger scrolling. After so many fails, I just gave up and use a trackball and mini keyboard with one HTPC and a Logitech K400 for another. (both without back light, I might add) The scroll wheel on the X8 effectively solves the primary delimma of almost every other device in this class. I can now scroll thru Netflix, Hulu, etc, with ease - while having a backlit keyboard and not needing to reach for a second device. (FWIW, I've been using the X8 with my Kubuntu HTPC, using web apps for streaming services.) It's only been two weeks, but I feel comfortable saying this is easily the best mini keyboard with integrated touchpad that I've ever bought. If there was a mid or upper-mid tier class of mini keyboard, the X8 (at this price point) would be punching up at that class.

I love this brand. I love these little keyboards.
I've owned a couple of different versions of these keyboards and this is my latest. The designs keep changing but they are solid to work with and they get the job done for my purposes. I'm using them mainly to act as wireless keyboard to control a couple of NUC mini computers that I use along with my desktop computer. I've actually plugged it into a KVM switch so I can switch between the two NUC boxes. A full keyboard just takes up too much space on my desk. It comes with two connection methods which ended up being important for me with another model I've had for years, because the dongle busted one way, but I could still use bluetooth and that extends the life of the gadget. The new one I've got in the KVM switch, so I don't have to pull it in and out all the time, which I think will increase the lifespan of the dongle. It has a nice little storage spot on the device for the dongle too. I'll keep buying this brand because they've not let me down. Would buy again.

A little life changing device if you’re working on a computer
I work for a software company and spend most of my day typing, clicking, and scrolling—so my shoulder and neck have been in constant pain for months. This little device has been a game changer. It lets me work comfortably and dramatically reduces how much I use my shoulder and right arm. It works perfectly, fits nicely in my hand, and feels intuitive to use. If I were being picky, I’d say I’d love a small tactile marker on the F and J keys so it’s easier to tell where your fingers are without looking, and I wish it registered quicker button presses. Even with that, I absolutely love this device and have been recommending it to all my coworkers and clients. Great price too—it’s already gone up since I bought mine, but hopefully it stays reasonable because it’s worth every penny. One more thing to note is that it stopped working for me at some point and I had to update the device driver to get it to work again.

It works most of the time, but very unreliable.
Overall it gets the job done. But it has a few draw backs. Mainly connection issues. It will randomly have poor connection to the dongle and lag on sending inputs. Or just stopp completely needing a reboot or re-positioning. Working in 1 location for hours, then suddenly needing to be closer to work at all. I have tried 3 different PCs, in 3 different locations, at 3 different distances. 3ft, 6ft, 9ft. All have the same symptoms. It also appears to have the same issue as Logitech wireless where height can suddenly cut out the signal completely for some reason. If you PC is on the floor with the dongle on the floor. On your lap the device may not work at all. Place the PC up higher and it works again. Very strange bug I see with many other wireless devices especially logitech. Compared to logitech keyboard and mouse couch combos this works better for a fraction of the price. So it is the far better product. But still not that good overall.

GOOD, BUT LIMITED RANGE
I bought the Rii X8 Mini Keyboard for control of a DIY Raspberry RP4 based "media center". The keyboard + dongle combo works out of the box with the RP4 (no drivers or configuration needed), and as long as there is a solid wireless connection it provides good control via its touchpad and keyboard. The thing is, it only worked for me with "line-of-sight" between the dongle and the keyboard. The moment the dongle was behind the TV screen, the range dropped to like 3 ft (1 meter) which is useless for my intended use from a couch. I had to use an USB extension cord to make sure the dongle sticks from behind and gets line of sight with the keyboard. Aside from that, it's been working fine, the battery charge lasts several weeks between charges. Size wise, it's a tiny and light device but somehow for my needs (which are a few minutes now and then) it is comfortable to type in and to use the touchpad. The keys so far respond well with neither missed nor repeated keypresses and keep up well with my "hunt and peck" typing speed. The size and layout anyhow prevent the use by fast touch typists. The keyboard has a color backlit that can be selected among several colors. On the RP4 side, I only had to make sure to use the right keyboard layout so that what's printed on the keys is what you get on the screen.
