Nice price on hibiscus tea
I am really addicted to hibiscus tea, and this brand was really good, it has a nice bold flavor. Add a little honey and it is really good.

Inexpensive and seems like high quality
This is my first time to order bulk hibiscus. It is much cheaper than the hibiscus in tea bags and this brand is one of the less expensive of the bulk hibiscus. Yet, I'm getting a full, rich flavor and deep red result. One thing that I'm not sure of is the amount to use. The instructions on the bag say to use 1 cup of dried flowers to 6 cups of water to make a picture of iced tea. It also states that 5 grams is a service and this one pound bag contains 453 grams of product. I would presume that 5 grams would prepare one cup of tea. One source on the internet says that one pound of dried hibiscus is about 11 cups. So 11 times 6 gives 66 cups of tea. But 453 ÷ 5 gives about 91 cups of tea.I found several recipes online that show using ½ cup of dried flowers to 8 cups of water. That is what I have done and I have to say that the flavor is still quite strong. Using that recipe I should get about 176 cups of tea. The recommended use is one cup in the morning and one cup in the evening. So that would give enough tea for over 12 weeks (or six weeks for me and my wife). Even at that I'm pretty certain we are getting a stronger tea than we would get with the tea bags. It is redder and has a stronger flavor. If you are not aware, the flavor of hibiscus is a tart and slightly astringent flavor. We add some lime juice and Stevia extract to it. Of course, you can add whatever sweetener ( or none) that you wish. I like the flavor. For me it is more of a sipping flavor than a gulping flavor. However, I suspect it would meld well with a fruit flavor such as Crystal Light or Propel, if that is your sort of thing. Hot or cold, I find the flavor interesting and refreshing. It is often my first drink of the day and my last drink. I would, however, suggest you try some from the supermarket fist to ensure you like it. Just because I like it is no guarantee that you will. One more thing, do not expect to get two brewings. While the first brew is dark red and quite strong in flavor, the second brew is a pale pink and with little flavor. You are getting most of the extraction in the first brewing. If you want to make it stretch, consider adding more water to the first brew.
