It was over too soon! (I really enjoyed this movie!)
Helen Mirren was in it, what more can I say? No, really, it was a good production, very well played, though Helen out acted most, Pacino for sure, though he probably played the extremely odd phil Spector as well as anyone could possibly. It was very watchable, no boring stretches. It starts by showing a disclaimer that it's all a made up story not based on any facts (I paraphrase). The story followed the facts I know about, with exception of the parts that aren't public information; private conversations, etc.. It's logical and believable, and offered me a scenario by which a smart attorney like Linda Kenney Baden could've possibly believed the deranged Phil Spector may not have been responsible for the death of Lana Clarkson, which I have wondered about. I do recommend this movie, I liked it a lot..

It was an accident
I remember the time of this trial and how they went after him for his eccentricity and wealth, and her for being a failed actress desperate for money. Ruining these people's reputations sold a lot of papers and kept people all over the world distracted for a moment. The only thing Spector is guilty of is having loaded guns laying around the house and for bringing home a dumb blonde who put one in her mouth teasingly as he stood across the room and you know the rest. If Lana had been a child he should be in jail but this was a grown woman, an adult. He should not be in prison for her death.

Al Pacino was great but I never forgot he was Al Pacino.
But I couldn't stop laughing with every new wig he wore. So so funny.

Worth Wathching/interesting
Excellent acting with the thought processes of a "fictional" Trial interesting that there was a plausible reason to believe accidental homicide. He made strange choices that were not in his best interest , stranger because of who he was and how he'd removed himself from the public. I can ony wonder the difference between the 1st and second trials. Did he get the brunt of a court system who set OJ Free and felt they had to make up for it to regain respect using Phil Spector? Helen Mirran Shines! He would have walked had she been well enough for the second trial.

Entertaining due to cheese factor.
Movie does not give much pretense and has an abrupt ending. Was entertaining though due to how cheesy it is.

a role pacino was made to scream for
watching or should I say listening to Al Pacino scream his dialog has been painful for years. It's like watching a hearing aide skit. At least it kind of works in this role. Poor Helen Mirren's wig must have been rock'n when she was seated next to him in their scenes. I could swear I saw her wincing from the volume!

Lies, damn lies and bad directors
Just check IMDB before renting this movie. It twists the facts, and misdirects extremely important details so as to lead you to a different conclusion.More than 24 different jurors over 2 separate trials have deliberated this case and Mr. Spector is in prison where he belongs.

Excellent performances by Al Pacino and Helen Mirren!
This was a curious trial, which I never followed at the time. This movie is about how the media and the legal justice system work, or sadly doesn't work. A person is tried by the media, found guilty and left to prove their innocence at trial. This movie shows how the system is flawed. Al Pacino and Helen Mirren gave outstanding performance in their roles. Although it wasn't a 'true' movie, it is definitely a great movie worth watching. At the end, you get the real update on the outcome of the "real trial" of Phil Spector.

Not The Monster, Or Freak I Thought.
This is an excellent film. I thought when I bought it, that even though there were two top actors in the lead roles, it would have been a bit weak, with a flimsy storyline.I even thought the actors, who obviously can pick and chose the parts they play were silly for doing it. Even to the point that it may impact negatively on their flawless careers.I was wrong about all my preconceptions. The story was captivating, from the opening scenes to the roll of the end credits. In fact I was sorry when it ended, the time spent watching it went so quick, and although it was 92 minutes long, it was so good it seemed to last about half the time. The acting was brilliant, from both Helen Mirren and Al Pacino, as you'd expect. But the whole cast and team deserve top marks also. The film has changed my mind about Phil Spector. I always loved his music, and still did up to the time of the accusation of him being a murderer, the negative press coverage and various other books, that he was a freak and a bit of a psychotic monster. All that sort of killed the moment as far as the great music he produced in the 60's went.Anyway, this movie has changed my whole way of looking at him, and this is one if the greatest gifts watching this film has given back to me. I now realise I have been wrong to have judged him so harshly. Especially on hearsay. He has a certain eccentricity, but behind the eccentricity there is a gentle, sweetness about him, an intelligent and wise person but at times with a childlike innocence too. Although in a more mature way than the Michael Jackson wayWhether he was guilty of the crime, or not, I don't know. I was certain that he was, and almost hated him for it. But after watching this movie I have serious doubts that he was guilty. He was cruxified by the media, and even though, as someone who adored his music, thought he was guilty, and was better off the streets. I no longer think this way.I think he got a bad deal, and hope he will get justice. Even if it's only an early release.Buy this film, it's anything but lightweight, or flimsy (as I thought it would have been), it's a well thought out and absorbing trial drama, it's a story about the lawyer and the person she's defending. It makes a strong case, and makes you think. Any film that makes you think is worth every penny...absolutely brilliant.
