Q: Does this have a hot & cool option? Steam and a cool steam?

No... this steams.. IT WORKS.. HOWEVER after using 3x a week ..in 3 months it died

It does get hot. Need to be careful how close to the face it is. It puts out a lot of steam. It is very nice for the price!

Q: The machine stays on only for 5 secs or less when the water temp reaches the boiling point. Why it doesn't stay on as long as i need?

Is your water level past the maximum level? I have not had a problem with it cutting off. Or when water level is to low it will also cut off. There may be a problem with the machine!
