Great book and fun!
The only problem I had was the price. Otherwise well done book. Fun and informative but a bit pricey for what it provides but the information is always priceless with plant knowledge.

Classic text, needed for a class. Used copy…just didn’t expect it to be coloured in.

Great Book but Defective Printing
I took this book out of the library and thought it was so terrific that I immediately ordered one for myself. Problem was, the pages are printed wrong, so that the page that should appear on the left is on the right and vice versa. You can tell right away because the page numbers are way in the inside corner by the binding instead of being on the outer edge. The pages are still in the correct order. However, when you get to the plant family descriptions, the illustration is supposed to be on the right and the description on the left as you hold the book open. Instead, the illustrations are printed on the back of the same sheet of paper as the descriptions. This means, for example, the Pea Family illustration appears next to the Dogwood Family description. So don't buy this book from Amazon. When I returned the first defective book, they sent me another defective one. Obviously they have a pile of them in the warehouse, and they don't check to be sure the replacement is OK. Too bad, because this is such a well-written book.

Required for Plant Morphology class by teacher
Simple, clear and good guide. It seems unreasonably expensive. Why are so many educational materials in our country so costly?

Great if you are a wanabe botanical illustrator!
Actually, I love the illustrations - and I do like to color. I bought it for the purpose of using the family descriptions and doing my own illustrations for an ethnobotany book I'm writing. It was not the right book for that purpose because as it says it is only for the major plant groups. Also, the descriptions are not very detailed. It is a beautiful well-done book for a budding botanical illustrator.

Great for the beginner
I have been looking for a book that addresses the basics of Botany for a long time. This book immediately explains and divides the plants into divisions, class, and families. I know there are literally thousands of families but they showed a good many common ones. I use the book to help me identify plants. It also helps me to draw them in my pen and ink sketches.

Very user friendly botany book
Very pleased that this is both a botany book, covering basic principles of botany, and at the same time an 'adult' colouring book (a la Anatomy or Physiology colouring books), which allows you to actively reinforce your learning by colouring in the plant sections accompanying what you are reading. Very nice book.

Beautiful
Beautifully written book. Was part of my learning in Western herbal medicine. We used this book as a study tool and reference so many times, I just had to have a copy for myself. I refer to it almost daily.

Worth every dollar.
This book exceeded my expectations, There is so much information included,I was expecting a few examples but not the whole range of how to illustrate each plant and the colour examples.

Fun way to learn.
This is a great way to help absorb information. You learn by reading and then coloring in the diagrams. This means that you take some time to really look at the diagrams. As you are that much more involved then it really helps to learn the subject. At the same time, one page of text opposite one page of diagrams means that the book is not at all 'heavy' and so you won't find yourself nodding off. This is not a fully comprehensive guide to botany but does give a good overview of the subject and very much engages the reader. Highly recommended.

Really nice book, lovely illustartions
This book was on my college list of reading anyway, and it was very useful for that. But it is more than just a college book - for those interested, it gives a lot of information about plants and families. It is 'paint by numbers' colouring-in, which at first odd, but by taking the time to colour in, you really take in the detail, so a great learning exercise. All aspects of delivery of this book also excellent.
