EcoQue Wood-Fired Pizza Oven & Smoker Generation 2 w/Starter Pack Accessories

I wanted a smoker that didn't take up a lot of space, was efficient in the use of wood, and had versatility. I had also seen a generation 1 unit a while back and was very impressed, but was not in the market. I am so glad I bought the Gen2 unit from Ecoque. The smoker is relatively easy to assemble, but you will need assistance at a few steps due to weight. The initial burn is essential, so don't forget that step. As to performance. This unit is slow to heat and reach peak temp, but once it's there, doing a low-and-slow is pretty easy. Conversely, if you over shoot the heat, coming back down can take time, but is pretty easy using the three dials to control air flow. The lesson learned here is that this oven is extremely slow to react, but overall this is a good thing as I will build upon below. The unit is very frugal with wood. I start off with chunk wood and small logs (about 2'' in diameter) to get things going. Then I add larger logs, reloading about every 6 hours with another log (see pictures). Overall, I was able to do 16 hour smokings of briskets only using about 4 logs, depending on thickness. My biggest fear, given the large $$$ investment in this purchase, was that this smoker would not develop the dark bark I like for Texas style briskets. I looked at videos online from Ecoque and other owners, but no one seemed to do this style of smoking so I wasn't sure if this smoker would delivery the goods. So Internet, your welcome... I took the dive and was not disappointed (see pic). This smoker develops a deep, tasty, and crusty bark using a dry rub. I have not tried making burnt-ends yet, but I fully expect this unit to deliver perfection. I highly recommend taking the dive. I can personally attest to this making great brisket, ribs, chicken (whole and cut up), and wings all on the upper smoker, and pizzas using the oven section in the middle. I also purchased the Tuscan grill attachment, but have not used it yet. I will say that I was hoping they would offer it on Amazon as part of a package, but alas I had to go to another vendor to get it (but it was well worth it). PS- the included wireless thermometer-probe made watching the temp awesome and enjoyable, which meant I only needed to attend to the smoker only a few times during long low and slow smokes.

Beautiful piece of equipment and functions as advertised. Smoked an 18# rib eye in 6 hours to a perfect bark and with a flawless ring... 120* internal using 225* external.. Flipped open the flue damper at 100* internal and let the smoke free for the last 20 degrees.... Was absolutely flawless. This unit allows me to showcase it while keeping things tidy around it (no sprawling spread of smoker related stuff) and functions awesome. Pizzas last night and first time using the pizza oven (for pizza) was also great!!! Looking forward to many great years with this thing!!!

This is the most awesome wood fired oven I’ve ever had the privilege of owning. It works amazingly and it is so convenient to be able to bake breads, pizzas, etc while smoking meats. I highly recommend this unit for the grilling enthusiasts.

Sure, you can buy a cheaper grill, a cheaper smoker and maybe even a cheaper pizza oven. But I wish you luck finding a better quality menagerie of outdoor cooking apparatus. Finally, an all in one smoker/pizza oven/grill and more! Very well made, heavy duty item. Be sure to watch EcoQue's instructional videos before tackling assembly. Perform the break in burn BEFORE installing any of the stones. I'll update once I get some experience cooking with it.
