Q: Is it worth it to upgrade from the EF 24-70 2.8ii version?

I’d say no. I’ve used both and while this lens is incredible, the EF version is still an awesome lens! The only reason I would switch if I were you would be to shoot video, as this lens is damn near silent and has no micro jitters. If you already have the EF lens and are happy with it, I’d spend my money on another lens from the RF line! :)

Q: Can it be balanced on a gimbal?

Depending on your gimbal and the weight it can hold. This lens is just shy of 2 pounds. The Eos R is 1.5 pounds. If you gimbal can balance at least 3.5 pounds you shouldn’t have an issue.

The EOS C70 is the first Cinema EOS camera with a built-in RF-lens mount, which was previously a feature that was only used for the EOS R series of mirrorless cameras.
