Great!
I don't often buy curry kits as they can be very disappointing, & I prefer to make curries from scratch. Saw this & I was curious to try as it's a new brand to me. I used chicken thigh, & added chopped potato, quite a lot of extra fresh coriander & some Kashmiri chilli powder. Most kits are never as spicy as they claim to be, hence the extra chilli powder, but this one clearly is. I think it would have been fine without the addition of extra chilli powder. I would now be happy to try some of the others in the range, on lazy cooking days!

Easy to use
This kit comes with all the spices you need to create a great tasting dish. The instructions are easy to follow. If you like your food spicy then this kit is definitely for you as it packs a punch. I’d definitely recommend going for the multi pack as it’s better value for money, the individual pack is a little pricier than others you can find in supermarkets.

Not as shown in advert
Thought they was more than this by the advert picture. So it's expensive for two sashes. Not tried it yet though.

Packs a flavour punch (plus it's quick and easy)
As someone who enjoys cooking, I was keen to try out the East at Home Madras Spice Kit. The kit is available either singly for £3.99 or in a pack of three for £9.99. The Ad suggests each kit has enough spices to make a meal for 4 people once the other ingredients are added. The kit arrives well packaged with a bag of onion powder and a bag of spices. There is a recipe card with step-by-step instructions. The instructions are also on the product information page which is handy if you happen to lose the card ! Besides the spices all you need to supply is the meat (if doing a meat-based curry) or the vegetables if you choose a vegetarian curry, plus one tin of chopped tomatoes, the juice from half a lemon and some optional corriander.I tried it out by using some chicken thigh meat. I followed the step-by-step instructions and only added the recommended extras. It took less than 30 minutes from start to finish, and I just served it with Pilau rice, and some naan bread.OPINIONI had already tried the Bhuna curry mix from the same Company, and although it was marked as mild to medium, my partner found it too spicy. This Madras was marked as “Hot”, so I knew beforehand that he wouldn’t want to try it (more for me !!)It certainly does what it says on the “tin”, and packs a flavour punch ! It also smells amazing whilst cooking (the smell does linger for a while after, which I didn’t mind).Next time I will try a vegetable based curry, and I would have liked to see recipe tips on the card or the product information page regarding the vegetarian version. I know I can find this on the internet, but it would be nice to see this included from the experts who put the kit together. For a tasty, simple and quick curry I would definitely recommend this product. Price wise, I do think it represents good value, considering all the various spices involved, but I think one pack is more suited to two rather than four people. It is certainly cheaper and healthier than either a take away or ready meal.Just to add, the use by date on the ones I received is 30 December 2024, so plenty of time to experiment !
