The Republic

This book is a must-read if you want to get immersed into philosophy and one of the cornerstones if not among the first of the field. It will enlightens your understanding of various concepts like justice and injustice, virtue and vice, good and evil; what makes a State well ordered and what does not and many other important concepts.

"Republic" is a classic work written at a time when modern democracy was in its infancy, by one of the western world's greatest philosophers. When I took Philosophy 101 at university, we started with this book. Not gonna lie: it was not the easiest book to get into. But like walking into a cave and letting your eyes get used to the light, I entered the first chapter and really had to read a bit before I got my bearings and understood the point. After that, the book was profoundly moving. In a world where we see people choose either the greater good or their own self-interest, "Republic" really illustrates what that battle is all about, and how our choices dictate life, society, and social structure. Plato really makes the case for the greater good — and here we are, more than 2000 years later, still needing visionaries to help people frame these choices. We still need to step back, understand that core choice of Greater Good vs. Self Interest, and all of the implications and consequences of whichever choice we make. I'll tell you this: if you read this, truly read it without skimming, and do the hard labor of thinking through the points Plato is making, it will drive you to demand real ethics, fairness, and morality in our societal leadership. it'll help you get out of the mindset of tribalism and focus on what is best for ALL people.

Cover is nice but there are at least 10 grammatical errors in the first 20 pages of the book.

This is a very clear translation and the book is much nicer than I thought it would be. It looks great and the page ribbon is a nice touch. The only downfall is the pages are a bit thin so there is some minor bleed through. But for the price it’s well worth it.

Excellent book

Good hardcover quality, paper quality is just okay but could have been better. The problem is the font size which is too small. Could have been a point or two larger.

I'm looking forward to getting a Plato view of things. Fast delivery, neatly packaged and good quality print and hard cover looks amazing on the shelf.

Don't know if it's Plato I'm reviewing , I think not so I'll just say nice feel to the book all the pages are intact easy to read.
