The Art of the Piano, Volume 3: Masterful Hymns by Request

Really had looked forward to this album, thinking it would be a delicious as Mark's have been before. This current hymn album is not difficult, even though it has an "Advanced" notice on it. It was a disappointment.

As always, wonderful rich arrangements by a very talented man. If I'm in need of compliments I just pull out a Mark Hayes arrangement and that is promptly taken care of!

Mark Hayes arrangements are fantastic, as usual. I play a lot of his arrangements at church, and the congregation loves them too.

Many of the songs I did not know. I like his other arrangements in other books more.

I purchased this book for one song, "O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go". It is absolutely beautiful. My other favorites are "The God of Abraham Praise" (fast baroque style) and "Abide with Me". Mark Hayes does not disappoint with his beautiful intros, interludes, harmonies and variations. I personally wish he would stick more to one type of style in a book (devote each book to a specific style instead of including a mix of classical, jazz and ragtime).You can preview some of the pages and listen to ALL the complete tracks (Mark Hayes plays them himself) on the publisher's website (http://www.lorenz.com/product.aspx?id=99_3254L and http://www.lorenz.com/product.aspx?id=99_3254L). Amazon is cheaper so I always buy from them, but it's great to get such a complete preview of the songs before buying.

Almost always love Mark Hayes' arrangements. They are more original than some others I've played and seem to be the ones I turn to when I need something quickly for church.
