Gripping
When I got to the end of this book I was upset. It dawned on me that I had now read all of K L Slater’s books and I wondered whether I would find other books that draw the reader in and keep them gripped as successfully as this author.More than anything this book is a good example of not everything nor everyone is as they seem. Each of the main characters, Holly, David and Cora had interesting hidden aspects to their lives and though the ending was a little unrealistic, it did not diminish my enjoyment of this easy read. The tale takes the reader on a rollercoaster ride, with unknown twists and turns at every corner. I also liked reading the story being told from the different characters’ points of view. The kindness of an elderly woman (Cora) helping a struggling and troubled young woman (Holly) kicks the story off in the present when Holly is invited to stay with Cora as her visitor. Cora’s neighbour, David, adds the kind of intrigue that unites the characters and allows the reader to become immersed in each of their stories.I enjoyed this psychological thriller and look forward to reading more stories by this author.

She's done it again!
I can not rave enough about K L Slater's books! With this one, its really hard to tell what's going on with Holly's past, but in typical fashion, Ms. Slater wraps it all up in the end, and its nothing like you imagine. Don't miss reading! I can't wait to read all of this authors books. This is my 5th and they are all awesome.

Amazing!
What a different twist on a thriller! Life isn't always what it seems and neither are people. This story will make you think carefully who you befriend.

A real thriller!!
This story was a fantastic psychological journey. My mind was constantly changing and trying to figure out who was normal and who wasn't. I never was able to get a clear idea of what was happening until the last page in the book. The characters were outstanding and developed completely. What a rush thanks to K. L. Slater!

W0W!
Wow! I just finished reading 'The Visitor' and have to admit it's one of the best books I've ever read. Major kudos to K.L. Slater for surprising a hard core, avid reader like me! I will now be the proud owner of all that she has written as well as all that will be written. Thank you for one of the best reads I've had in a long, long, while.

Ending is a bombshell
Must read! The book is intriguing all the way, you really are not sure exactly what is going on. The interaction is interesting, and you know something is going on, but I could not point a finger on it, and kept guessing. The ending was a real mind blower. If you figure it out, you are a better investigator than me. Don't miss it!

Surprise Ending
Unexpected twist at the end. Good read. Alittle hard to follow with all the flashbacks to past and names of characters.

L Slater is another excellent novel from this author
The Visitor by K.L Slater is another excellent novel from this author. I have read all her novels and like her others this one doesn’t disappoint.Holly has returned to Nottingham after being years away. She left with her friend Markus to start a new life in Manchester but, now she is back after having a bad time. But, now she is homeless and penniless. She happens to bump into Cora, who feels sorry for her when is found crying and offers her a room in her house. She becomes ‘The Visitor’. Cora could do with the company, as she lives alone now as her husband has died.At first she is happy something is going right for her for a change and she meets David. Who is an odd fellow and who is 40 years old and still lives with his parents. Who sees everything that happens on Baker crescent. She gets a job in an upmarket department store called Kennington’s and life seems to being getting better. But although things are getting better, she senses that someone is watching her. Someone is trying to get hold of her from her past. The story also tells of her life when she went to Manchester and goes to work for Brendan and Geraldine. This is another gripping thriller from Ms Slater. It’s original and tense and I like her style of writing. You never know what you are going to get with this author and I like how she keeps you guessing right up to the end and then bang the brilliant twist at the end. You will never see it coming. Well done Ms Slater another Hit.Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy of this book.

Boring and disappointing.
I found this book lame, boring and disappointing. There is no way I could ever describe it as a thriller, and there was no 'breathtaking twist' - the revelation towards the end was one that had seemed obvious all along. I had just read 'Blink' by the same author, which I thought was brilliant. So I splashed out and tried another of her books. I can only assume that her books must have improved over time. It was a waste of £1.99 and a waste of an evening.

Good page-turner
This is a gripping tale of dysfunctional characters, put them into the mix with hidden pasts, and oh boy do you you have a strong story to read.Holly, the young woman who had a difficult childhood, was taken in by Geraldine and Brendon for a life of luxury in Manchester but a life that was not her own in anyway. But what did they want? Why did she runaway from them, and what was she afraid when she sought refuge back in Nottingham?Cora is the benevolent old lady that took pity on Holly and took her into her home.David lives next door. He will not go out after dark. He spends his time at home, watching through binoculars, taking notes on every move his neighbours make bring new meaning to the term Neighbourhood Watch. Unlikely as it may seem he manages to strike up a friendship with Holly, but then Holly needs him, and will use him whenever she can.It didn't take me long to read this book, but the best books don't. I have read KL Slater before and have no doubt I will read many more. She knows how to keep me page turning.

Holly has secrets
Love it, Holly has had a horrible childhood (that's not to love I meant the book), but have things at last turned a corner? When she's refused cash cheque at the Post Office Cora a dear old last steps in and helps, free accommodation but a lot of old stories to share. Having escaped from Manchester she returns to Her home town of NottinghamBut not all is sweet Holly owes a lot of money and is scared of the past catching up but she gets a job and apart from Emily all seems well. The lad next door 40 year old David is befriended by Holly in a fashion and well that's an interesting part of the story of love to tell you about but it would be a spoiler and I'm not into that so read it for yourself it's a great read.So why do I recommend it it's but just the big twists saving the best till last with several hitting you square in the eyes but as there in a book it's but painful for us that is. It's full of great characters some nasty some just full of themselves so like life, I loved Holly and Her secrets there are a lot to hate or dislike but as their not real I feel it's ok to hate, and David I will leave you to make up your mind. The story is definitely different to ones I've read before so often the same theme is just retold a million different ways but this is fresh. You know with K L Slater your in for a great read and this it's no exception, if you don't this will help you see what i mean. I really hope you enjoy it as well.

Starts well but...
I have really enjoyed some of K L Slater's books, and I was delighted to find I was soon rooting for Holly as she attempted to start a new life in her native Nottingham after an as yet undisclosed past clearly replete with secrets. I didn't find her quite as convincing a character as her neighbour, David, whose passtime of choice was - rather disturbingly - neighborhood surveillance, with the aid of security cameras, binoculars and logs of everyone's movements! My misgivings with the book began with the rather forced way (in my opinion) in which Holly's past was revealed - as she compared her new life with her old one, all conveniently for the reader, in chronological order. I suddenly felt that there was too much repetition of some themes and actions, about which I must remain vague to avoid revealing the plot. After a period of reading faster so that I could reach the end, I did find myself more involved in the storyline again, but though quite exciting, the resolution involved yet more repetition and a somewhat unlikely scenario.Although this novel wasn't among my favourites, I shall continue with K L Slater's books, because, at what I consider her best, she produces some excellent work.
