I got this set from a friend who had never painted in her life. She didn’t feel confident and gave the set to me. I have never used gouache, but loved the colors! I’m used to oils and watercolor so this was a bit of a switch, but when I’ll get used to very quickly, I really liked it. I feel it’s great quality. Several people ever remarked about the fact that it only came with three brushes. Most paint sets come with one brush! I really liked the brushes as well. Clean them very well because they don’t clean as easily as watercolor, but not difficult either. I did not know that gouach paints need to be sealed. So keep that in mind when purchasing. Get some wax or spray…. Just read about the different options. The 4 ounce jar of wax is about $12. Krylon clear spray is about $16 but will last a long time.

My daughter absolutely loves her gouache set! She has made countless creations ever since she got her new Himi gouache paint and paint pad! She especially loved the ease of taking the cover off. Super simple

See below the way I choose the star rating. The HIMI Gouache paints are such a beautiful set. The colors are more vibrant than I expected. There’s a good mix of opaque vs transparent colors. It is essential to swatch them! I am used to gouache from the tube, so these take a bit of getting used to. It is recommended to spritz them with DISTILLED water or the original HIMI spray (I don’t really know what is in there but it’s a product you can buy). You can see on the picture that the consistency varies quite a bit, from liquid-smooth, to stiff and clumpy. But they all liquefy nicely with water. The brushes provided are nice with a good stiffness, but you might need to add one smaller one for details. The biggest disadvantage is that you only buy those in sets, not open stock. But for now I enjoy creating with them. Incredibly quality and the presentation is adorable. I’m so happy I found this brand, will be buying from them again. Note*** always keep flat! I had mine in a book bag laying vertically and some of the colors ran into each other 😭

Fabulous!!!!!!! When I try to post it asks if this “toy” is appropriate for children 1-11. I don’t understand why this question was asked, as this is not a toy! I’m an adult and use these paints in my business. I’ve never been asked that question in a review before.

I enjoy using HIMI gouache. This was my third purchase of the box sets. Opening the individual cups is a pain but worth the effort. It works well on almost any type of paper that isn't too thin. I purchased the HIMI spray which works well to keep paints moist and mold free. Using a watercolor blending medium allows this gouache to blend nicely for skies and water. There are two negatives, the box of 48 doesn't close as tightly as the box of 36. The box of 48 has two snap closures while the 36 box has snap closures on all four sides. A large plastic ziplock bag solves that problem. The second problem is with the whites. They aren't as opaque as more expensive brands. The white cups can be filled with another brand. Over all, I'd recommend it. It's my go-to for painting.

Although this giant kit is definitely a bit pricier than the other smaller gouache kits that you can get. I definitely do like having the bigger one. As someone that has just started off with gosh it’s been an absolute breeze working with such a large pallet because i spend less time mixing colors. I’ve tried multiple styles now and have really never needed to ever mix my paints because there are over 112 colors. It is so easy to shade match from an irl picture. Love gouach.

Very smooth, from almost pasty opaque to transparent washes, and the colours are excellent.

These paint pots do not come sealed like others I have purchased. They are leaking all over, this was supposed to be a gift but I cannot gift it as it is super messy and spilling everywhere. I am very disappointed
