Contains most of what you need to run fun science experiments with your kids at home
This is a great science kit for budding chemists and contains most of what you need to run 56 different experiments. My child is 5yrs, so I do the experiments with her (rather than letting her loose on the kit alone)There are test tubes, safety glasses, measuring cups, food dyes, ten or so containers of different chemicals to conduct the experiments amongst the accessories. Instructions for each are laid out in a booklet that outlines the method and sort of reaction you're seeing. After our first experiment, it gave me so much pleasure to see my my 5yr old come up to me and ask to do more "experiments" with her. You can see the wonder and learning unfolding before them!A few things to note:- I felt the instruction booklet has been translated into English - sometimes the instructions aren't that clear, so will need a little creative leap- In a similar vein, the reactions aren't always clearly explained (at least, the reason why certain reactions were happening were not always clearly explained) so you might have to "augment" with a little internet research beforehand.- Some of the accessories were pretty cheaply made. There's a "grow your own Christmas tree" experiment where you douse a paper tree in a chemical solution to get it to grow crystal leaves, Unfortunately the stand that it came with wasn't sturdy enough to keep the paper upright. But we turned it into a learning opportunity anyway.Overall I loved the variety of experiments contained in the kit. We're about a third of the way through it, and I'm learning as well as my daughter. Yes, some of the accessories are a bit on the cheap side, and the explanations/instructions are sometimes a little lacking. But prep the experiment in advance and it becomes a fun learning opportunity for you and your child!

Excellent kit but we were missing magic sand so sadly unable to do this experiment

Adult supervision required
if you capture their imagination early enough, it's easy to set kids off on a lifetime of inquisitive interest in science. I really like this set, and in particular I like the 'wow' factor of the experiments; so many very clear 'results' like colour mixing or bright crystals being made. First off you will need a lot of space to set this all up and a lot of time to supervise and a lot of time to tidy up ( might be own for the chores chart!)The age bracket is a little hopeful; and I suppose with younger kids you'd be 'presenting' the experiment to them rather than letting them do it themselves. One of the experiments (this is pretty cool to be fair) involves a lighting a candle, so be aware. I certainly wouldn't give the set to kids under around 6 years old, and even then I wouldn't give them the candle ha ha! Kids older than 9 may also spend a fun afternoon with it. There are lots and lots and lots of bits and bobs in the box, (almost) everything you need along with a few kitchen items, so once they see the instructions they can't wait to get started. One thing I would say is that a lot of the inside packaging includes German language, as this must be the main market, but that the English translation does appear just beneath it on the bottles of ingredients etc (you just have to point out where to look to some kids as they may not see at first glance). The instruction book for the UK market is separate and well produced.

Very very engaging for kids.
This is very well thought out, you get lots of experiments with simple to follow guides that also explain what is happening in detail that is clear for children to grasp. There is plenty of varying experiments too, so this should keep your inquisitive child engaged for quite a while. The package comes with pretty much everything you need like containers and measuring aids too, so no need to add any expense to get things going here.Obviously adult supervision is important with this, even though it is fairly safe, you dont want your child swallowing the contents of the chemical jars. This has been a big hit so far and we are only a third of the way through, so an easy 5 stars from me, I have also learned a bit from this kit too!

Nice idea for a gift
Got this for some friends kids. The box arrived a bit damaged unfortunately. But the contents seem ok.Thought it would be an interesting idea as a gift instead of the usual things they get. They quite like science things too. Hope they like it!

Lots to Do!
This would make a perfect gift for a child. There is a lot to do with this science experiment kit. There is a booklet of instructions to guide your kiddo through experiments. I love the set. It can get messy, so make sure that you are on standby for the clean-up or lay down an old towel or sheet.

Great science gift
This box of science activities is great for birthday or holiday giving. It has numerous activities from active volcanoes to growing crystals. All of which provide a nice introduction to science. The price is much more affordable than name brand science kits.
