Beautiful Star & Galaxy Projector
I wanted a projector for my very dark bedroom, one that projected "realistic" looking stars and not equally spaced out little dots. I LOVE this dang thing. It was 100% worth the price, IMO.My takeaways, the good and bad:Pros- the stars MOVE, and can you can control the speed and direction. It gives a fun "I'm in a space ship" kinda vibe that I find super calming- it comes with 8 different slides with different galaxy types and projections. You can also control the brightness and rotation speed.- it's very quiet- I think it's beautiful and very calming- the Govee app is super easy to use and lets you customize your sceneCons- the projector can be bright when utilizing the galaxy slides. You can turn it off and still use the stars- to get the full effect you need a dark room- it's bulky (but well made)- priceI'd been researching projectors for a bit, and I'd been leaning toward a different brand that was ball-shaped and came with slides (and the option to purchase more for a decent chunk of change). I went with this during Prime Week because it was on sale, making it only a bit more than the other. I have NO regrets. I truly love the calmness it brings to my bedtime routine.

Get it if it's on sale
I saw so many negative reviews I was skeptical. I already owned two "cheap" projectors, one that's just auras and one that has changeable discs. They were around $30 each. At $180 I never would have pulled the trigger and now that I have it I still would not justify $180. In my opinion Govee is getting a little carried away with their pricing. I love Govee. Have MANY products. But I think they're newest marketing strategy is simply "let's see what people will pay!!"That being said, I got this on sale and also had some gift card remaining and got it for $120 out-of-pocket. I still feel like that's a little high. I think this would be fairly priced at $100-$110.It's much bigger than expected and as other reviewers have said it's solid. Does not feel cheap. Very well constructed. Comes with 8 changeable discs in a little booklet with a cloth to clean them. I would not consider this a child's toy. I could see how a child could easily damage the discs. They aren't super-easy to get out of the booklet and require some precision to get in and out of the projector insert. So take your time. Be careful and it should be fine. The brightness is fine. So many reviews complaining. If there are other lights on in the room, yes it's hard to see. That's how light works. In a dark room its perfectly bright and the images are sharp. No focusing necessary (or possible, for that matter). I'm hoping they come out with an "expansion pack" of discs. The options/possibilities are pretty infinite. Are you listening Govee?? We'll see.The "white noise" choices available in the app are pretty neat (again, would love to see more added in updates in the future) and I'm sure that's part of what is pushing the price up as well as the bluetooth speaker. The app is great. So much control and customization. You can set schedules, timers, routines. Voice control with Alexa is also fantastic. If you have anything Govee you should already be familiar with the app. I really don't plan on ever using the speaker as an actual music speaker but to be able to connect and play additional "sleep sounds" not available in the app is a great option to have.My biggest negative (and this is all "star projectors, not just this one) is that the actual stars are always so disappointing. I always turn them off. They just look like colored dots on the ceiling and in no way resemble stars. These are blue. And there is some functionality/customization you can do through the app for different effects but I just turn 'em off. Makes the projection too busy. That's purely an opinion.Overall I absolutely love this thing and have zero regrets. If you can get it on sale/discount and you're into this type of thing, do it. If you're gifting this to a kid, get something cheaper unless you plan on supervising/assisting. You'll just be throwing away money.

Completely disappointing
I wanted this and thought it would be cool. I think that perhaps if it had been one third of its cost, it would have been worth it.Unfortunately, it's a complete waste of money. The starfeild is cool but underpowered. Then they ruin it by adding a light that washes it out and silly sounds that make it seem suitable for children (it's not).I popped a few of the glass disc's in played with it and the reality is that it's only suitable for a pitch black dark room. Even trying to watch TV washes the effect out. It's going back I usually like govee but this is a toy for children but you can't give it to them fe abuse ut uses a dangerous laser.Lastly, the ceiling in our master br has a ledge, I thought it wojld be cool to put it up there shooting onto the cathedral ceiling. However, it doesn't do well shooting onto an angled surface. It appears it's meant to shoot onto a perfectly flat surface otherwise half of it is going to be stretched and out of focus.
