The media could not be loaded. To be as honest as I can be. Yes, I purchased this as extra security. Just in case my handgun is not available or when my handgun is not needed for certain types of emergencies/threats. This a safer alternative and will not usually result in a fatality. To be more honest and to give an example of when this stun gun would be used. I have two adult brother and sister American Pocket Bullies. And less than a year ago my girl attacked my boy, over her empty dog bowl. By the time I heard the fight and ran to them. It was about 30 seconds to one minute. My girl was attacking my boy and he wasn't fighting back because they are not trained to fight and just because he has a relaxed and non aggressive temperament. He is a goofy, lover, good boy. But my girl is the alpha and it is just down to that. Well, the time it took me to respond to the fight, plus another 1 minute to wrestle and grab her while she is in kill mode and literally biting and shredding any part of my boy that she can get and keep a hold of. Sometimes, a second can literally be the difference for life and death. And she hospitalized him for a month and then 3 months of recovery. After that fight I realized that to keep her means that this could happen at any random moment. So, I purchased this stun gun as a deterrent and to save my dog's life. I've trained her to not be territorial over her bowl and i feed them separately and I wait for them to finish and pick up bowls I also taught them when I didn't like a behavior I would snap the stun gun in the air. And immediately whatever would stop. But, earlier today they went outside for a bathroom break. All of a sudden I heard that familiar sound, PTSD of mine kicked in, and they came crashing into the side garage door. And my boy was stuck with his back to the opened door. Because he was running from her and she was right behind. They came around the corner and she got him before he made the turn to the door. But, since I trained them as best as I could. I also trained myself on how to use this stun gun in different scenarios. I literally go through a step by step plan and act these scenarios out. I keep one in my bag and one in my pocket at all times. As soon as I heard the crash into my door and dog fighting I leaped into action, remained calm and calculated, snapped the stun gun in the air and demanded that she stop and back away. These efforts didn't sway her any and she continued trying to engage in a brutal attack. I reached down and stunned her butt for a second or two at the most. She immediately retreated and backed away and that also snapped her out of killer mode. Then, the retraining immediately began again. They are my dogs, I am 100% responsible for them, and purchasing this stun gun has been a life saver. It sucks that it has to be this way but the alternative is not an option.
