Beleaf Original Plant-Based Jerky
Sweet. Chewy.Came in a sealed bag. Exp date, ingredients, and bag of bag narrative were covered by stickers. The exp date is 1.5 years into the future. The seasoning crumbles off, so it is somewhat messy. The pieces are tough to the touch, but on the thick and soft side of beef jerkies. Biting is tricky with the jerky-like tough texture and too messy so I took large bites/small pieces instead. The first thing I noticed was how sweet it was, maybe sweeter than teriyaki flavored beef jerky, but the bag says original. Second was how chewy it was, it was like eating a starburst. I would not call the eating experience akin to beef jerky but I don't know if "candy" would fit either. Maybe savory candy? It seemed to be lacking umami too and too sweet to be savory. The texture and flavor are okay, I would probably say I like them, but I wouldn't really categorize it with jerky or savory. I've had fruit leather that was thinner, tougher, and less chewy so while that would be candy it might have a closer-to-jerky texture than this product.I tried to describe it. Mostly though it is not jerky, maybe a unique candy... some thing I don't have experience to group it with but also something I am content to eat again.

A Bag of Rocks
I expected the product to be chewy, but this was like trying to eat a bag of rocks.

Hard To Chew, Too Sweet, Not Enough Savory
I had high hopes for this Beleaf Plant Jerky, but sorry to say I’m not a fan. Some of the jerky is reasonably chewy, but most of it is really tough and hard to chew. As far as the flavor goes, I like the ingredients of soy sauce and ginger together, but they missed the mark here. I can hardly taste any soy sauce, this jerky is mostly ginger flavor and really sweet. I mean, it’s almost like a “ginger snap cookie” sweet, instead of the savory tones I’m expecting in a jerky. I like the plant based jerky concept, and this product is reasonably priced, but I don’t Beleaf that I’ll order this again.

Very Chewy
I actually really liked the taste! It was chewy and sweet with a little peppery taste and no weird aftertaste. I've had plant jerky before so the texture was not a surprise to me, it's similar to mushroom jerky. The only thing I didn't love is the pieces are huge, but they rip easily into strips with your fingers that are easier to chew and eat. Would recommend, and although sadly there's no fiber, each slice is 2g of protein which is pretty impressive.

An acquired taste
This is definitely something that if trying for the first time, you may spit out or not enjoy but if you give it a chance it’s ok. Very chewy and strangely becomes an odd sensation while chewing. Very large pieces for this variety as some others are in different forms and sizes. Very unique flavor that I don’t recall ever tasting but for me it’s hard to explain just what it tastes like. Can be sweet and savory with a trailing licorice flavor. Spicy version was better.

Not for me
I am not a jerky eater, but I gave this a try. The coating is an indescribable combination of spices that are very bad tasting. The texture is very leathery, like trying to eat an old shoe. Even if I could chew it, which I could not, I would not dare swallow it; It was so bad I had to spit it out and threw out all that remained. It was not a pleasant experience.

Only 2 Grams Of Protein Per Serving, No Ingredients/Nutrition Info On Page, Allergy Alerts
I'm trying to incorporate more plant-based healthy foods in my diet; while this is certainly plant-based, it doesn't have anywhere near the nutritional value of actual beef jerky. Very disappointing.Since the page has no ingredients or nutritional info on it, I'm including pictures of the back of the product so you can see them, plus the missing allergy warning for wheat and soy contained in this product. They claim 20 grams of protein for the whole bag, but one serving is one piece of jerky, which contains 2 grams of protein. You'd need to eat all 10 pieces to get to 20 grams, which would also give you over 1,100mg of sodium, 20g of sugar, and 50g of carbs -- with zero fiber. That's not very healthy as far as I'm concerned, and I think my doc would agree. In addition, the whole bag has a total of 390 calories, which is a helluva snack. As far as taste goes, it's not too bad, but it's hard to justify even a great taste with these nutritional issues. I'm going to pass on buying any more, and also won't be recommending this -- not even to my vegan son.I'm giving it 2 stars for incomplete page info and for stretching the promise of a "high protein" "healthy plant-based snack." I'm also very annoyed that no ingredients or allergy warnings are listed on the page, as my grandson has very serious food allergies which include wheat and soy. This is critical info that should be plainly listed before people buy this.(Like the protein, 2 stars is actually 20 stars if you read this review 10 times)
