Nicer than I expected, minor modification was needed, well built, working properly its second year
I installed this a week ago. Initially, I placed the panel and battery in the sun to charge. It was a simple matter of using a compass to draw a circle on my shed wall, cut the hole, slide the fan in (a nice, tight fit), and screw it down. I used a dremmel to cut the excess screw length. I drilled three evenly spaced holes in the outside ring and screwed them down as well. The ring was not predrilled and screws weren't included. There is a gap behind the closed door that bugs can get through, so I added a felt strip to seal it. A bead of clear caulk around the fan and ring sealed them in place. After drilling a 3/4" hole for the cable, I mounted the panel flat on my angled roof using four flat stainless steel brackets, deck screws, and clear caulk. The bracket holes are predrilled in the panel frame. Total installation took less than three hours. The included battery is larger than expected and provides a very long run time. The panel does a nice job keeping the battery charged. The fan door opens and closes easily. Mounting is secure. Cable length is sufficient. Overall, I'm pretty impressed. The seller contacted me soon after shipping to make sure I received the package intact, attached additional installation instructions, and was available in case I needed help. I appreciate that. The fan is a little noisy, but it's in a shed. It moves plenty of air and the size is sufficient for my 10 x 12 single window shed. It makes about a ten degree temperature difference.UPDATE: I disconnected the cables for the winter and left my solar panel uncovered and the battery and fan in my non temperature controlled shed. A few days ago, I got onto my shed roof and cleaned the surface of the panel (it was still clear with just a little dirt) and reconnected the battery to charge it up. Today, I checked voltages (they was no degradation), reconnected the cables, and the fan started right up with no unusual noises. I have changed my review to five stars.

Nice unit
This is a nice unit. It works good so far. The only thing I might change is to add a battery to extend the run time into the night if I have to. Outside temps can get pretty warm into the night in zone 9b. Other than that, it is helping to cool off my greenhouse and my plants are thriving.

Best of Both Worlds!
This is one of the only fans we found that can be operated both with a solar panel and a power adapter, with a battery on top of that. When there is not enough sun to charge the battery for the night, plug it in and your chickens are taken care of.The fan is easy to install, quiet, and moves quite a bit of air. We were worried that the chickens will have trouble roosting so close to the fan (the coop is rather small), but since it is so quiet, they either ignored it or got used to it within minutes. The exterior protection flap is a great addition and protection from the elements. The solar panel arrived shattered - one quick call to Amazon and one message to the seller, and an entire new kit was shipped to me without having to ship the damaged kit back (I have already installed all the other parts and did not wish to remove them). Awesome customer support!!!

disappointed
fan works great when the sun is out, I Bought this particular item because it has a back up battery that I wanted to run in the evening, the red indicator light is on during direct sunlight but the fan quits when the sun goes down.

WHAT A FAN!!!
After researching ventilation fans for our 121 x 10' x 9' (H) "Tuff Shed" we purchased this fan. It arrived in good condition without any damage and all contents intact. It has been installed for about 2-weeks and has made a noticeable difference with the interior temperature. It seems to be running at least 10-degrees lower inside then the exterior air temperature. We're very pleased with this product and the price point for the quality! So far, we would buy this again (if needed).

only powerful in DIRECT sunlight
only powerful in direct full sunlight. if you live in a wooded area where the sun lit areas move, i would not recommend. my solar lights and solar powered coop door work well with the amount of sun but this fan only works if i move it as the sun moves. even then it doesn’t run as fast as i would like.

Worked until it didn’t
Update on review:I purchased another fan to give it another shot. It worked really well for a while. Unfortunately it has stopped working again. The fan lasted 8 months this time (compared to 2 last time) and the power source did not explode.Previous review:I liked how seamless it was to install. It’s also decent looking. And it worked well until for a little while until it didn’t. Unfortunately, the product only lasted about 2 months. For some reason the outlet exploded and left singe marks on my chicken run. I’m lucky it didn’t start a fire. The vent was plugged into a heavy duty outdoor extension cord that I’ve used many times before and have had no issues with it.Also, if I could make a comment on the solar powered feature of the product, the solar panel worked great when it was in full sun, but had no backup storage power. So if it got cloudy, or say someone just walked in front of it, it would shut off. It would be nice to have some kind of backup power so that it runs not only through the day but the night as well. It’s very inconvenient to have to change the power source every day if you’re trying to take advantage of the solar power feature.

It works.
This solar fan works as it should. Right now I have it plugged into a 110 volt outlet running in my chicken coop. It does run on solar, but it has to be in direct sunlight with no shadows or clouds or it slows down or shuts off. It does not store any electricity.
