This is a beautifully written and illustrated book about the Great Wines of Burgundy, and the most famous and succesful Vineyards in the region.the book contains profiles of each vineyard, including their fascinating histories, the names of the principal owners, the origins, the topography, geology and pedology and explaining the terroirs and the climats and all factors that determine the ultimate quality of those wines. Detailed maps of the domaines and the region are provided for your guidance. It is extremely well written and illustrated with pictures for anyone to understand. I can't begin to imagine the effort and dedication and indeed plain hard work that must have gone into the production of this truly fine work of art. Even if you are familiar with the area, it will rekindle your desire, as it did mine, to go back and explore this fabulous region once more, re enforced by your newly acquired insight and knowledge,and ultimately for a greater understanding and appreciation of these great wines.
