Timeless in every way.
Classic scent that really uses that timeless cliché, but actually is a timeless scent ! Made back in the 1940's and as relevant today as it was when it was originally made. Upon spraying it opens full throttle with lavender and a synthetic accord that Is hard to place... not unpleasant but still there. This only last for 20-30 seconds before transforming into the most warm vanilla and leather heart notes that most fragrances can only try to replicate. Finally the base notes of Vanilla, musk, leather and a darker more sensual tone take over, and really showcase this EDT. Again this is a timeless scent, and often overlooked due to the lower price tag...., but the house of Caron is known for top line scents at affordable prices and they are all of that timeless demeanor.... actually quiet amazing. If you like these notes lavender, vanilla (especially), leather, musk, and warm notes this is for you if not maybe another more lavender forward scent like Agua Lavanda by Puig.... for me this is a 10/10

Timeless. Not for everyone.
Browse the net for descriptions/reviews of this fragrance -- I cannot improve upon them. It is not citrucy or woody, neither quinine/neroli nor floral; and is rather in a class of its own -- hints of baby powder, a whisper of patchouli, and something that made sense to the alchemists who concocted it 100+ years ago. Try it -- a fine year-round and any occasion fragrance.

Old School Lavender
Lavender, lavender and more lavender. This fragrance first reminded me of an old-time barber shop. The initial spray is shocking - medicinal even. Once you get past the initial blast this fragrance begins to mellow into something sublime. The dry down and the warmth of the vanilla kicks in - the scent turns into something absolutely divine. It is not a complex fragrance - and I respect it for what it is. I rate this 3.5/5 because IMO not my favorite to wear. That being said, this is one of the most (if not THE most ) natural lavender scents, which is pretty difficult to pull off considering there are so few notes (lavender, vanilla, musk and amber). CARON does this so well. Probably why it has been around so long. Comes in a no frills bottle with green juice. Old school yet retro at the same time. Not my favorite fragrance, and depending on when/how it is worn can be extremely dated - but a keeper nonetheless and recommend for casual wear.

I love most of the Caron products
I love most of the Caron products. I have been using them since I was a teenager. My favorite is still the Royal Bail de Caron (https://www.amazon.com/Royal-Bain-Caron-Men-Toilette/dp/B000XDYOR4 ) which I have used for 20+ years. I took a chance on this one based on the reviews and the aroma description. The initial application which is totally a different aroma quickly turns into a really smooth combination of vanilla and lavender. Not sure how exactly describe the fragrance but trust me ... this rocks. Most important ... My wife loves it ! . My only complaint is that it is an Eau de Toilette and the aroma does not last all day. Not sure if there is an eau de parfum. Extremely satisfied.

New scent
The original scent is what I wanted. I had NO idea it was a new scent and I cannot return an over $100 purchase. I know, “let the buyer beware.”

High-Quality Men's Cologne Still Holds Up After 40 Years
I began using Caron Pour Homme around 1970 and from what my nostrils (and those around me) tell me is that its scent has not changed substantially since then (more than 40 years). The shape of the container is different than it was in '70, but the contents smell the same: a heady mixture of lavender, vanilla, and patchouli (very light on this one). The scent lasts moderately long, but I would prefer that it lasted longer (not necessarily stronger). If you have any doubts, and when facing a new fragrance I always have them!, I would give it a "test drive" at a large department store (Nordstroms, Macy's, etc.) and leave it on for 5+ hours. Then see if you are still happy with it (I've always been). Good luck and happy sniffing! :-))
