Great for Self-Watering Setups — Affordable and Functional Alternative to LECA
I use these in my self-watering pot setup with a wick system. I thread a cotton rope through the base, add a generous layer of these clay pebbles, then top with soil — making sure the wick sits in good contact with the mix. The pebbles help with both drainage and oxygen flow, and they let excess water run off easily during top watering or initial potting. No root rot issues so far! These are a more affordable alternative to LECA, and I actually prefer the mix of large and small pebbles over the tiny “succulent gravel” I’ve used before. They strike a good balance between holding structure and letting water drain. Good quality, no weird dust or breakage out of the bag. I’d definitely repurchase.

Very good LECA and the best price I could find anywhere
This was the cheapest LECA I could find anywhere, because apparently once hobbyists started loving it, most companies jacked the price way up because they could. It's good quality, with a little bit of expected breakage, and is doing a fantastic job in my 30-gallon terrarium as a drainage layer. It looks fine, the size variation is acceptable, and it was easy to clean and soak with hardly any dust at all. It's a nice red-brown color.

Lots of LECA for your money!
I was able to use one bag to transfer 6 small plants to semi hydroponics. Very good price and good quality, just make sure to rinse before you use as they are very dusty (which is expected!) Perfect moisture retention to keep my plants’ roots wet but not at risk of root rot.

Very Happy With These
Good value. I bought an 8 lb bag not thinking that I'd use more than half but wound up using up the whole bag. I'm using these at the bottom of pots for flowers that I use for the season. I didn't realize how much I needed for my big 12" pot. I only filled about an inch and a half with these clay balls and that took about a third of the bag already. I've never used these before, so this was a first. I thought that using these, my flowers would have better drainage, and I'd have to use less potting soil. Almost all my flowers are planted in pots as I use my backyard as a vegetable garden. The size of the clay balls is OK but they're not all uniformed. There are some bigger and a lot of smaller ones that keep falling out of the pots though the drainage holes. I just mix the smaller ones into the potting soil. I did clean all the clay balls in a bucket and then soak them overnight. I rinsed them a couple of times the next day and then let them dry a couple of hours before using them. There are some broken pieces, but not a lot. I think it all depends on how they're handled at the warehouse and during shipping. I was happily surprised that there wasn't a lot of crumbs at the bottom of the bag. Some, but not anything outrageous. All in all, I'm happy with these. Next time I might look for a little bigger ones, but I'm happy with the quality of these. I'll have to see if they are reusable as they claim. Hope so.

Great for switching plants to hydro or semi-hydro. I've also added to my chunk mix soil.

Found a lot of “texture, colors, shapes, and variations” in 16lb bag
For what you get - pound for dollar, it’s a bargain. But when preparing the Leca, rinsing it several times, I started noticing the size was not the only variance. The shapes are all off, texture is off, color is off. I started shifting through the whole 16lb box… these are the variations I’m finding. Some float, some sink, color outside varies, inconsistent exterior texture. For two days I sat there and sorted out the funky material and maybe 2/3 of the box were okay. The rest is kinda “filler” for bigger monstera root systems. Will see how plants grow with this material.

These clay pebbles were exactly what I needed for improving drainage and switching a few of my houseplants over to semi-hydro. The size range is consistent, the bag is clean with very little dust, and the balls rinse easily before use. They’re lightweight but sturdy, and they hold moisture well without breaking down or turning mushy. My plants have responded really well so far, especially the ones prone to overwatering. For anyone using LECA for propagation, wicking systems, or pot layering, this is a great quality option that performs just as it should.

The bigger box is fantastic value for money, I feel like I now have a lifetime supply. They work great for plant drainage and terrariums.
