excellent read
I really thought this was a great first and what I hope is a long series of books. The three main characters were interesting and the author brought them to life. The world building was both fascinating and unusual. Something that I enjoy in my books. I can’t wait for the next in the series to get published.

Beautifully written! Read it twice back to back!
This book is gorgeous. The world crafting is fantastic and the characters are beautifully broken souls that grow throughout the story in ways that simply make the heart ache. I loved the Adam Binder novels, but this book is on an entirely different level. The epic masterpiece that I have been looking for my whole life. The fact that it centers around an LGBTQ+ cast felt so organic, it didn't force the reader to accept something, it just stated it as fact and made it feel just as real as anything ever could be. Such beautiful work. I am so impressed by this and I cannot wait to read the next books in the series! As much as I want to read them now, I also do not want the author to rush this process, so I am content to wait for the next in the series. Amazing!!!

I did actually enjoy
I did actually enjoy this, after getting through some hurdles. It almost felt like we should know who some of the Gods were, what the situation was.Yes, I know it was revealed later on but I flt like most of it could of been done half-way through and it still would of flowed amazingly.Raef and Seth are amazing characters. Raef is a thief and former survivor of something dreadful that happened. Seth's control of his flames were suspicious until it was revealed why. Kinos was a HUGE suprise later on that shocked me silly! There were moments that both were great and others I got little bored with. This is the first book in the series, it did leave me wanting a lot more. But the revealing near the end was a little dissapointing (But I suppose that leaves more for the next book)

This odyssey will keep you reading until late into the night! And there will be more to follow.
Recommended and rated this book: 5 stars (I actually would give it 10 stars!)David R. Slayton, I am hooked! I really enjoyed "The Adam Binder"stories, but they pale in comparison to this new series. The story line is dark but not scary, full of twists and turns, along with a few surprises that you readers will have to experience on your own. I saw that one reviewer thought the middle of the book was boring! Well, I am to tell you to ignore that thought because there is nothing boring between page 1 and page 401 and that is my truth! The author has begun an odyssey and is taking the rest of us along for the ride. May it be long and fun! I will not spoil the plot or story because it has to be read to be understood. Please purchase a copy to encourage Slayton to get book 2 out soon!Reasons I enjoyed this book: Wonderful characters /Original /Tragic /Great world building /Page-turner /Action-packed /Unpredictable /Romantic /Entertaining /Haunting /Easy-to-readWitty

Exactly the kind of LGBT Fantasy book I've been looking for
After the White Trash Warlock series, I'm willing to purchase anything with David R Slayton's name on it. This was CERTAINLY no exception. This is a great first book in a series, the world is well written and interesting, the characters all feel unique and deep, and the writing is skillful and descriptive! This is EXACTLY the sort of thing I'd like to see out of gay fantasy going forward. Interesting stories with romance being not quite secondary but certainly to the side of what is ultimately an interesting fantasy plot.I can't wait to see what else comes out of this author, and I look forward to whatever comes next for this series!

A tale well-told
Light vs Dark. Faith vs Ambition. Tolerance and Loyalty vs Prejudice and Betrayal. The world is dangerous since the knights of the sun god killed the moon goddess and banished the moon from the sky. The dead linger because they have no one to guide them, and the people suffer in poverty as trade dwindles. Raef, last of the faithful of the moon goddess becomes embroiled in matters of prophecy that are about to shake the world and break his heart as he learns who he really is.A moving story with engaging characters in a well-drawn fantasy world. I really enjoyed it!

Really really good
I enjoyed this book immensely. The unique world building, the fantastic plots twists and especially the main characters. It's fun because I don't think I've ever read mm fantasy with a live triangle but it was really well done. The only thing that frustrated me was not knowing how old anyone was.

Bravo, Author, Bravo!!! EXCELLENT Book
Luckily, I am quite familiar with David Slayton’s writing. Last Spring I discovered his talent and devoured all three books of his Adam Binder Series back to back. (Also highly recommend them). I have been waiting for the release of Dark Moon Shallow Sea since then and I can tell you, it was worth the wait. The novel is set amongst god Hyperion and goddess Phoebe, the author’s skill at recreating mythological genre rivals best translations of Homeric prose. David Slayton’s writing is not merely to be read, but felt and taken to heart!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. Cannot emphasize enough how highly I recommend and rate this book!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Excellent Fantasy with Interesting Worldbuilding
I didn't know what to expect with David Slayton's newest series but as I loved the Adam Binder trilogy I decided to give it a chance. And I am so glad I did.The character writing, the relationships between said characters, the worldbuilding, and the history present in this book make it an excellent read and a wonderful start to the series.I am eagerly awaiting the next book!
