Quality product!!

Locking pliers are very much a staple tool in any garage or shop. After having to rely on c-clamps or other not the right tools, I had been watching for a good set. I ended up picking these and a handful of other Irwin tools during a sale, but Amazon has consistently been far less expansive than any of the big box stores locally for Irwin and the in-house brands. I was drawn to these as they are the classic no-frills Vise-Grips that I grew up using. They may not have fancy release mechanisms but as so far they have been able to lock and hold whatever I am working on, or need to secure, without slipping. The quality seems fine for my purposes as someone who performs all my own automotive work, most of my home improvement and repair, and some welding here and there. As some of the reviewers mentioned these don't feel as nice as the older Irwin Vise-Grips. I grew up using those both at some of my early jobs and at home and there is a heft and feel difference. However, for the price and what I was able to find online and in stores these seem to fit the bill for what I need. and so far they have not shown any wear or had any issues. I have bought some of the cheaper products when I needed to make one-off tools and those would actually warp when being used with a good bit of force. So far these have held up, so while they may not be quality of before, as so far they are still good enough. As I continue to mention in tool reviews, if you rely on these to earn your money, you probably should invest in getting the best you can buy.
