A New Story For These Familiar Faces
I have to admit that I actually started with this book. I mean, apart from looking at the dates of publication, which I did not do, I had no clue that this was the LATEST to be released. Well, the fact that it says that in the blurb should have probably given me a small hint, but I was more interested in finding out what the book was about than actually paying any attention to when it was released. So I have been a fan of leverage, the show, since I first discovered it on Ion television a few years ago. Around that time, I believe it was in its fourth season on its mother channel. Just from watching the commercials, I knew that I was gonna love it. I mean, a bunch of former criminals turned vigilantes for justice. What's not to love. And I think everyone has their own favorites. My brother's is Hardison, because he is just like him. My mom's is Eliot, in her words..."DAMN!!" And I actually have two people fighting for top spot in my eyes. Parker and Eliot. Mainly because I love their skills. Due to my adoration of the show, it seemed only logical that I read the books.I think the main reason I read this book first, after much deliberation between the three, was because it was about a book. Weird, right? I thought it was cool that the team was going to be working to get back the rights to a bestseller from a moneygrubbing individual who wouldn't do anything unless it benefited him personally. Their client? The girlfriend of a man who was rundown after a book signing. But there is infinitely more to the story than meets the eye. Rumors of a possible sequel story will bring to light a character thought to have been dead all these years. There are fights, break-ins, late night writing sessions...everything you would expect from a leverage episode, just in book form. The only thing I did have kind of a critique about was a couple of times I felt that certain characters did not seem like themselves. It is hard to explain, but while most of the book felt familiar character personality wise, there were moments when the character's personalities just didn't feel right. All in all, though, this was a wonderful read. I LOVED IT!! And I will absolutely read the others.

Enjoyable read but a little different
The Leverage novels have been a welcome surprise. I enjoyed this novel as well. There was a moment when I was unsure, when the author referred to gummy bears instead of gummy frogs, but it was only that one error. Other refs were correct. Fans of the show will enjoy this book. It has a feel like the show. There is an edge the show doesn't have. The death of a very bad man where that wasn't the way the show worked. I think the publisher is trying to find the market and the authors needed to write the books to fill that market. I'm not sure if they will be successful. Written books are harder to write the way a visual show works. In addition, publishers and authors usually don't want to write a book that substantially changes the lives of the characters. For example, the characters won't be allowed to fall in love,or bring a new permanent character into the Leverage world. However, if the stories are well written in the Leverage style, fans would overlook these limitations. Star Trek novels have been popular for decades while not really offering major changes to the world's and characters they portray. An enjoyable read, overall, but not exactly like the show.

Orange soda, "pretzels" and action at it's best!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I won't give away the plot (don't you hate that?) but suffice it to say I felt like I was inside an episode of one of my all-time favorite television shows! I was so crushed when the series ended. I still have not watched the final episode - The Long Goodbye Job even though I own all the seasons on video. I enjoyed the story line of this novel very much and the depth of each character. Hardison says what you would expect Hadison would say, same with Sophie, Nate and Elliot. I just wish there were more books in this series. I would buy them for sure. If you are a Leverage fan and miss the tv show, then this series of books is definitely for you. Kudos to the author for bringing the team back together for one more job! Buy it Leverage fans!

A fast paced read - spoiler alert!
Love the Leverage team. This finds them involved in getting back the rights to a book for the girlfriend of the deceased author. The author was a friend of Eliot's, so this job has lots of meaning for him. As things move along, Sophie acquires a stalker, who manages to nearly mess up the resolution, Eliot protects the girlfriend who is attacked, and everyone wants to know who Taratula is. Tarantula is the source used by the best seller's author as background for the book. The team has 48 hours to write the sequel or the disgusting pig brother of the deceased author will be killed by a man who wants Tarantula. As the sequel is finished, the team confronts the girlfriend with the fact that she wrote the best seller, not her boyfriend, and that he took the credit so as to steer possible problems away from her.A riot of a conclusion and a red carpet moment make this a fun read!

GOOD, BUT OVELY COMPLEX.
TV tie-in books are often not very good. This one was a fast read and a good story, but much of the dialog was wooden. I tried to imagine the words spoken by some of the “Leverage” actors. It didn’t work. There’s two cons here. The first one is to secure legal rights for a deceased author’s best seller. The second con is against the author’s killers. If you are a “Leverage” fan you might enjoy this book where the team comes up against professional killers and spies. My advice is to buy the “leverage” DVD’s instead. The show is worth a second or third viewing.

Good work!
Of the three Leverage novels, this one is the best written as well as the most intriguing and entertaining. I almost never give anything five stars, so I rated this work at four stars. I was impressed with the writing of this piece. All that was missing was that the author could have squeezed a wee bit more character into the crew, but he did a good job of turning out an entertaining story.
