M + R 706010000 Pollux Sharpener, Simple Brass Gift Packaging

I posted the below review a few days after receiving the sharpener, it worked faultlessly for the first dozen pencils I tried it on, I was so impressed I ordered another one for work,When I received it I set about trying the 2nd one out on a new batch of pencils,,,it snapped the lead every time ! I tried different pencils from different batches with the same result, assuming that it was a faulty sharpener I reverted to the original one but this now was snapping leads at least 70% of the time, I tried various permutations, swapping the blades between the two sharpeners, different batches and types of pencil, all with the same result 70-80% of the time both sharpeners snap off the lead. I have wasted a box of pencils trying to locate the problem with no result, I can only conclude that the basic concept of a one shot long point sharpener is flawed as I have seen this problem documented for the Blackwing as well, in consequence I will be reverting to my Kum 2 stage long point,which while it does not produce the exquisite concave point of the Pollux (when it works) produces a serviceable long point with 100% reliability at 1/3 of the price.Previous review.The concave point produced by the Pollux Is very sharp,very nice to write with, and means pencils require resharpening less often. The solid brass construction and availability of spare blades really does mean it could last you a lifetime as long as it doesn’t get lost or nicked. The only issue I have with it is, no way is it worth 18 quid ( or £22 in some places), the makers obviously know it is a sought after premium item and are milking it for all it’s worth because they know sad pencil fetishists like me will pay.

Absolutely amazing! I was in a search for a long tip sharpener for my coloured pencils and I have found what I've been looking for! I definitely recommend this product if you want your pencil's lead part long and sharp.Thank you.
