Works well and great price. Other cheaper thermometers dont give a reading above a certain temp, they just say HI. This goes very high, I got 2000 F readings. +

It took just a little time, and the screw driver they provided, to get batteries installed. Then a quick scan through the manual, to understand the different modes, and I was off and scanning things for temperature. I did not have a reference, but it measured things and said they were the temperature i expected. I think this will be a big help with my forge and kiln.

This thermometer has the wider, more specifically, the higher temperature capabilities I need for heat treating steel. It also has high and low alarms, it will record and remember 12 readings, show the high, low, difference, and average. It includes a flashlight, but it's too dim to be useful to me. Everything seems to work well, and I got several features that I didn't expect so that's all good. It's accurate, at least at room temperature; I measured the wall next to my Nest thermostat, both read 73. The main problem for me and the reason I had to drop a star was the instructions. I've bought more than a few things from China, and typically I can decipher the instructions, but these were very poorly written symply didn't mention a lot of things. I had to do a lot of playing around before I could even switch from c to f. I still haven't figured out how to activate the back light on the display. I guess the good news was that I "discovered" many of the other features. I can't speak to long term durability/hard use, but the product seems to do what was promised, maybe even more, but it's going to be up to you to figure out how to access everything.

Unfortunately, the first thermal gun I received gave wildly inaccurate readings but after a quick email exchange with the company where they helped troubleshoot the issue, they determined the product was defective and immediately dispatched a replacement. I was quite amazed by their responsiveness. The replacement gun arrived within a few days like they said and it is working well. We use it to check the temperatures of our backyard pizza oven and are very happy with it.
