Labour Companion: Hypnobirthing for a Calm Birth Including Relaxing Birth Music (Natal Hypnotherapy) Audio CD – Audiobook, 1 Jan. 2016

I'm rating this 1 star for a few reasons. Firstly it has nothing to do with the actual effectiveness of Maggie Howells general method.For my first child's labour I used the birth prep CD and listened to it as much as I could weekly after around 30 weeks. I went over two weeks and had an induction. I feel. The. CD helped me with the unexpected transition, to stay in a good mood and go with the flow. I was lucky to have a very short 3 hour active labour but very intense I reckon from being induced.Anyway.....Personally sought advice from Maggie to which she didn't respond, asking her if she had a cd/track available that included the original music that came with the "birth prep hypnobirthing hospital/birth Centre" as I love the music and 2nd time round feel the positive triggers and memories the music brought. I wanted JUST the music, to play at my now planned home birth for 2nd baby (I'm still listening to the same CD even though I've planned homebirth as there's nothing particularly identifiable for a hospital setting in the words)... So as she never replied, I bought this CD as it states in the description it comes with the SAME relaxing music as the birth range cds she offersIt is not the same music!!! It is a slow mix of piano classical type music.Relaxing, yeh I suppose, but with a hint of sadness, I felt anyway! The tones used could be way more uplifting and meditative yet you could match this music to a sad film or something too... I'm just being honest.The music that comes with the original birth prep CD is different and so beautiful and comes with a variety of tones and music to match the hypnotherapy rather than this CD that only offers a repetition of the same tones for over 20 mins.She even claims on her website in red writing that it's the same music of the entire range which is false!?Unless she has updated all of her range I don't know..i bought my original hypnotherapy CD in 2014 so it'd be wise for buyers to double check this info outThe CD case was of poor quality, it doesn't work on my CD players 'no disc' comes up but managed to get it working on one.The CD is packed poor quality and looks fake compared to my original one..Will be returning as can't listen on player I want and I feel it isn't genuine and falsely advertisea it's the same musicI'm a great advocate of Maggie and tell everyone about the power of hypnobirthing but I'm not going to be mislead..UPDATE....Just wanted to say that I managed to get this after I returned it, from a friend, so I played the labour track whilst 'zoning' through contractions, with headphones in and just wanted to say the music doesn't come across as 'sad' as I had thought listening to it again, it did help maintain a positive love feeling, maybe because my subconscious linked the music to the first original CD I had, as they are a little similar in parts I suppose. So there you go :)

I would definitely recommend these CDs, I bought the Labour Companion and the Natal Hypnotherapy Programme, because they compliment each other really well. If you were only getting one, you could make do with just the Natal Hypnotherapy Programme, but I'm glad I bought both because they really helped me.There's no clever tricks- the CDs just build your confidence, remind you that your body can do this, and help you ignore negative stories about birth and stay focused on yourself and your baby. Can't imagine my pregnancy or having my baby without them now.

Simply cannot recommend this enough!!! Every expectant mother needs this in her life!

Partner was in relaxed state throughout the child birth. Following the recommendations ensured my partner was almost sleeplike up until the last moments of childbirth. No drugs of any kind needed. Excellent cd

The cd is helping me with breathing techniques which will be very helpful when I go into labour in a few weeks time.

I rate all maggie howell books and cds very highly.
