Replaced another one just like this, as it finally wore out after nearly twenty (20) years. This timer is easy to use and works great. No problems trying to "program" it. Simply place the pins where you want the timer to come on and off (color coded). Quiet, reliable, easy to use--it just works reliably.

Great timer. A little bulky, but I haven’t seen any that are smaller. Quitet. No “mechanical “motor noises. Love that there are enough pins to make it seem like someone is home, even when you are away. Just be sure to keep the extra pins in a safe place where you can locate them if/when needed. It cost almost as much to buy a new set of pins as it does to buy a whole new timer with the pins.

Bought two of these for fountains in our backyard pond. Exactly what we were looking for as we needed a certain outlet (the newer style has the other plug outlet) and needed the pin style timer. We've been using them for a few months and they work great. We do keep the timers and the plug ends in a battery box to stay dry.

Only slightly off after four weeks operation, so periodic checks will be necessary...not a set and forget item. Could give rating of 5 but that is perfection...it does take resetting from time to time. Made well, quiet, reliable, inexpensive, easy to use; wish most items had the same characteristics of acceptability. Am thinking I want to use one of these to turn my diesel truck block heater on next winter mornings. And already use one to keep power off my compressor during nighttime [think loud noise], and will come up with other uses...I need to order more :>) . Good job Intermatic !

I use this to turn my distilled-water machine off after 3.75 hours, before it runs dry at 4 hours and "cooks" the hard-water residue onto the bottom of the pot, which makes the pot really hard to clean with vinegar and elbow grease. (But I must remember to disconnect it then or the timer keeps running and eventually turns the still back on and cooks the residue on anyway. ) Good price for such reliably accurate functioning.

I bought these to cycle my cable modem in the middle of the night each night, and it worked fine for a few weeks. Until one day it shut down my internet access in the middle of the day. Turns out a recent power failure caused the timer to stop for a few hours causing it to be shifted away from the desired time. This isn't the product's fault. It was doing exactly what it was designed to do. But if you're using this in a technical application that you need to be ultra accurate and fail-safe, you need something with a battery backup.

This is the best timer. I bought a different type that you have to push down pins to set the time that you want on. The problem is that as soon as the time goes to the on time again, it goes on. Even if you don't want it to. THIS timer goes off where the red pin is placed. It won't go back on if there is no green pin in there. Also you can have this timer on, on, just place a red pin to turn it off. Ex. I put the timer in at 9 AM. I keep it on on. I want to go off at 4 pm. All I do is put a red pin in at 4pm. And it's off for good. With the other type, it will go back on at 9am.

Great for the Christmas tree or when on vacation.
