I'd never used five spice prior to getting this (admittedly) big bottle of it. I'd seen prices for smaller containers, however, and decided I'd rather have a huge bottle for around the same price, and I'd just have to find ways to use it more often. Honestly, it's one of my favorite spice blends in my cabinet. It's so fragrant and pleasant smelling. The consistency in the grind has been really good so far; I haven't noticed any weird chunks/clumps, nor any foreign material or mold. It flows easily and quickly, so be careful not to over-season with it. I love the taste, it works really well to get a good flavor into the meats. Considering the cost and the quality, I'm really happy with it. I'm glad I got this big container, it'll last a long time. Great value for the cost for sure. :)

I case Amazon does not note it for me, this is a review of the "Granulated Onion 11.46oz" (Fresh Finest). First, let me make it clear, I'm NOT a vine member, and have no idea how they get so many things for free. Nor would Vine probably want me because many of my reviews point out flaws / dislikes and only 20-25% of my reviews get 4 or 5 stars. SO why do I give this granulated onion a 5 star? Well, I don't like the amount of "onion dust" that is in there, obviously this stuff is not sifted down to remove that like the M brand that costs nearly twice as much. And I don't like the plasticized metallic seal on the top of the shaker bottle because it has no grab tab and it took me a good 5 minutes to get it cleaned off the bottle to the point I was convinced I wouldn't be getting pieces in my food. There is a place making seals that split into 2 pieces and then come off cleanly, but I have seen very little use of it outside of Europe(where they are WAY ahead of us in food and health issues). BUT, I love that they put a paper / cardboard "seal" disk up inside the cap (solid cap would be better but from what I've seen those might not even be made anymore) so that when you close this thing up (if you aren't using the shaker holes in the lid) it actually seals moisture out and the product stays fresh for a year or more - not weeks. And that brings me to the reason they stayed right at 5 stars. The stuff actually tastes like ONION! Maybe not the hot, eye watering kind that you hate having to chop, but the slightly (barely?) sweet ones that go great on burgers (or most other meats) without poking you in the eye. I love this stuff. I actually make both onion gravy and golden onion salad dressing with this (and some dried minced onion) rather than chopping yellow or white onions, and no one in this house has complained yet. In fact our "picky one" comment they like that I finally figured out how to keep the taste but get rid of all the "chunks" that were in the gravies / sauces / dressings before.

We go through a lot of pepper, especially when barbecuing. I love the benefit of buying in large containers because it’s so economical. Easy open and pour or shake. Stays fresh for a long, long time. This pepper has a really rich, deep pepper flavor and the aroma almost takes your breath away, literally! We like it a lot!
