I use this on my bandsaw and table saw. The extra length compared to the default fences is very useful. Especially with the other BOW accessories such as the featherboards

This product is extremely well made, so I gave it 5 stars. However, in the specific case where you have a Shopsmith model 500, the fence is secured by a rod sticking out the front of the fence that you twist to tighten. This fence extension butts almost right up against this rod. It doesn't quite touch, but it also doesn't allow enough room to get your hand in to tighten the fence in place.It's a very good product. However, it's not well suited to this one specific application.

This fence is a huge upgrade for my dewalt job site table saw.Is it cheap, no. Neither are the other Bow products. BUT... the quality of this fence is obvious as soon ad you open the box. The box is a tight fit, with thick walls to help ensure your fence is still straight when it arrives. The fence is made of quality materials and has a great weight to it. It attaches to the fence on your saw with ease.The fence with the platforms attached will be a great addition to any saw. However, with a jobsite saw it almost doubles the length of wood you can cut on your saw without worring about the board becoming as unstable.Saw stop may have the market on keeping you from cutting yourself. But the Bow extender fence with its assorted accessories has the market on keeping kickback from happening during your cuts! And in my opinion the foam tipped push stick and feather boards will go a long long way to keeping you from cutting yourself also.If you are looking to help make your cuts even more accurate this fence is perfect!If your looking to increase safety in your wood working, Bow products are worth EVERY penny!!!For you kids, a penny is a coin worth 1 cent.

I have an old Ridgid TS3650 table saw. I really like it and the fence is good, but it's also very short. I already had a Bow FeatherPRO featherboard and I love it. The design is ingenious and the thing works so well. I had picked up a pair of the FencePRO featherboards but they didn't work with my fence as it's way too short. So when I saw the XTENDER online, I wanted to get one to my current fence longer, more solid, and allow me to safely and effectively attached the FencePRO featherboards. I ordered the 36" extender and when it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised how heavy it is. This is not a lightweight flimsy aluminum extender. This thing is very solid. (It also came well packaged so it was protected during shipping, and it arrived in great shape.) I was easy enough to hook up to my current fence. I'm sure the Bow fence clamps work well, but I just used a pair of Rockler universal fence clamps that I already had and they work just fine. (These aren't designed for the XTENDER so your results may vary.) After getting the XTENDER set up and adjusted, I added my FencePRO featherboards and they fit amazingly well. I am so happy with this setup now. I can quickly adjust everything based on what I need to cut. Today I resawed some 40" pine 1"x2" boards for a project. Without this setup, I don't think I would have done it as it would have been difficult and risky. With the XTENDER fence and Bow featherboards, it went perfectly. I was able to get the wood through and I didn't have to worry that it was going to fly up or shoot back at me. I can't say enough about how good these products are. I consider all of them money well spent. I highly recommend the XTENDER fence and I would gladly purchase it again.
