Was skeptical at first, but, really like it
I wasn't sure what to think about the integrity of a hinge that has two movements to it. When opening, the cap first rotates from the left to the right, ( when viewed while shouldering the rifle ) then as it rotates to its top position, it changes directions and folds back and onto the objective bell of the scope. I was worried that this multi-function would make this cap's hinge fragile and likely to break over time. But now that I've had first-hand experience, I think its structure and design is more than adequate to hold up to plenty of use. The function I like the most is this cap closes up "vault" like solid. When closed, no matter how hard this thing gets bumped, even with the weight of a heavy rifle behind it, I don't see how it could be knocked open or broken. It's that secure when in the closed position. And then in the open position, yes, maybe that's when the hinge is at most susceptible position, but it tucks down so well against the scope it's less likely to get caught by anything. Another bonus to this lens cover is how it mounts. It not just pressure fit, it has pressure tensioning lever that helps pressure lock it into place. In addition, also included is two strips of different thickness felt tapes to insure a tight fitting. As a whole, I really like this cap. I admit, I don't have years of experience with it or have yet taken it on a hunt. But for the several target shooting sessions I've used it on, I've really appreciated its functionality. I've been a go to for lens caps of B.Creek for well over a decade. But for the same price point, I feel I'm getting a better designed product with this new stale cap. I hope this product sticks around as I will be buying another one when the time arises.

Rugged & Just Plain Cool!
I've gone through a lot of scope covers through the years, breaking ones made by BC because they're too flimsly to hold up to one wrong snag while focused on the hunt, or while laying my rifle down wrong while doing some recreational shooting. Time will tell, but I'm pretty sure THIS scope cover will take some dings and keep on going, especially because when open, this cover lays down flat, parallell with the barrel, not sticking up or to the side just asking to be dinged and broken. Getting the right size for your scope is important. It took me three tries...my Nikon Pro Staff scope is 47mm on the mark according to caliper measurement and traced diameter on paper, but the 47mm cover did not want to open...it was too tight. So I went for a 49mm since 48 was not in stock. That was a mistake..too big although they do provide adhesive spacers. I didnt like the gap. -Then 48mm became available which hit the mark for my rig using one layer of electrical tape around the bell instead of the provided spacers. -Cutting to the chase...I recommend you buy these for your scopes but there's a balance point on fit vs flip open function. If you go with the nominal size of your scope, there's a risk that the opening function won't freely move since the plastic is pretty rigid, which is good, but the lack of flex doesn't provide much of a margin for "tuning" the press-to-the-side opening function since the lip of the cover itself is held closed by catching on a plastic tab anchor. I addressed this by settling on ordering one mm larger than the diameter of my scope to get easy, relatively quiet opening and closing without having to press too hard. One note on that...don't expect to be able to not startle deer by flipping this cover open...it does make more noise than a BC flip open cover, so you'll want to quietly guide it open while hunting, but otherwise let it rip like you're a tactical wannabe Chris Kyle when slingin' rounds with friends. They'll laugh at you, but they'll follow-up by asking where you got it/them, then buy their own - no joke, these rock, so measure your scope, order 1mm larger than your od measurement, fine tune with "tacticool" black electrical tape, then enjoy flipping it open as I do. Buy it, you won't regret it. In fact, you'll likely then buy more! -Safe shooting, friends!

A very nice item!!
I tried several options for caps for a new scope. The crazy prices!!!!! But, these caps are GREAT!! Just measure correctly and they will fit fin. Plus the price is excellent, as well!! You can't go wrong with these caps/covers.

Simple fit lots of moving parts
Have this on my Vortex HST cheap and easy to install. It does move different than any other scope cap I have ever seen but with the amount of different sizes they offer and wanting to have the same caps on all of my scopes it was really the only option on Amazon. The fact that it clamps on and comes with thin foam shimming wrap makes it an easy and seamless install as well as a real snug fit. I do wish it did not flip up and over, probably a fail point eventually, but it has made it through one rifle season and dozens of miles so far.

Cover works very well but can be tricky to learn how to actuate.
The scope cover fits and works well. It's good that (2) strips of tape are included to help snug the cover in place. I used one of the strips provided, we'll see if there's a need for the second strip in the future. The clamping device and cover actuation tab are good. The only issue I have is that there are no instructions or diagrams showing how to actuate the cover mechanism. It took me a little while to figure it out. I discovered how it worked by accident. I was fumbling around with the cover until finally pressing the tab in the right direction. For anyone considering buying this cover the tab needs to be pressed downward towards the clamp to release the spring-loaded cover. The action is very slick. Lifting up the cover and rotating in back into position works well as the cover snaps securely back into position. Again, there was no information provided as to how to locate and press the cover release tab. I wasn't sure if I'd like the blue colored clamp on the cover, but it actually looks pretty good. After figuring it out, I like this cover a lot. The price is the same as other flip up covers and it's fun to use.
