This is a quality blender
After buying a cheaper Chinese model, that wasn't as described and worked horribly, I decided to just bite the bullet and buy a good one. I know better and should have done that from the start. This Waring WSB40 immersion bender is a quality made, well put together and a reliable unit. Everything I hated about all the others I have used is not a problem with this one. It is exactly as described and works well. I would imagine it will last a long time. Therefore it justifies the money spent. Compared to all the others that might make it a year, if that, before falling apart. I wish it had a slightly slower speed for one recipe I do. But that is not a complaint. And I can still use it as is. I just felt I needed to add something to my wish list.

Next Level
Bought for my daughter-in-law because she was tired of supposed top tier blenders having only plastic parts that wear out, crack and can't be replaced. This one is built for the ages and she is THRILLED. There are some professional/commercial immersion blenders that are just too big for home use but this one, although larger than what you find in most stores, is still a useable size. High quality, made in the USA - win/win.

A truly commercial scale machine for moderate blending of fruit mash in canning
Really nice tool - great heft, easy switch, two speeds (slow is fine for me to mix whole berries that are being boiled and strained for jelly). VERY quiet operation. Blade can take some pits without deforming or coming off. As long as your liquid slurry is not too deep for the stainless part of the shaft, this works great in boiling liquid. Cleans perfectly by immersing in warm soapy water and turning it on low for a few seconds. It does not throw material upward, and it doesn't suction onto the bottom of a pot. Compared to my former kitchen model, this thing is a dream. I'm not going to mash potatoes with it or use it for industrial purposes, so I won't be able to rate durability on that scale - but for my use in making upwards of 300 jars of jelly from cherries that are not pitted first, it is perfect so far.

Disappointed in Performance for Soap Making
I purchased this stick blender for soap making, expecting a high-performance tool given its price and commercial branding. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. While making 7 liters of liquid soap, the blender struggled to emulsify the batter and lacked the power I expected. In fact, my much cheaper stick blender performed far better, and I had to switch back to it to finish the batch. This product did not live up to its claims and was a waste of money for my purposes.

You need to be tall and strong to use this
I first tried this with edamame and tahini dip. It really didn’t chop up much. Then I tried it on a pot full of soup and I was shocked how quickly the job was done. My only problem is that I’m not tall and strong and it’s hard to use. Plus, you have to keep your hands on two buttons at the same time. I’ll keep putting my items in the sink to use this. But it is incredibly effective on soup.

Impressive
I bought this blender about a month ago and have used it quite a few times. Every time I have used it, it has never failed to impress. That machine effortlessly purees sauces and salad dressings. Just now made homemade mayonnaise lickety split, another victory in the corporate PUFA oil war!!! (Never going to buy Hellmans canola oil again). Its smooth and quiet action belies what a powerful motor it has. The open teeth on the blender (as opposed to those holes that catch and clog with fresh ingredients like herbs and garlic) were a big selling point. It is easy to clean - run under hot water and perhaps a spray - hooray stainless steel. The unit is pricey, but worth it. Hopefully this unit and I can be friends for many years to come. I love this machine so much that I felt compelled to write a review and share how much I am impressed with this.

Broke after 2 years
For being professional grade, this stick blender only lasted me 2 years. It now makes a grotesque screeching noise when turned on. And it’s past the warranty. I use this pretty regularly, 2-4 times per week. So I guess that’s a fair amount. But still. I’m not using it on ice or anything that should be too taxing. The blade is still sharp with no dents or dings. Kind of expensive for how long it lasts. So loses 2 stars for those reasons.

You get what you pay for!
This thing is well built! I've been through 5 or 6 of the "knock off" brands putting them to work in a commercial kitchen, but this thing is durable, powerful and keeps up! If you're looking for an immersion blender that's a sturdy piece of machinery, you found it here... there's a reason it's a bit more than the other one's, you get what you pay for!
