Not low budget & not a bad movie.The style is suspense, is it a haunting / a psycho et etc.. to which all is revealed in the last 40 minutes where this movie picks up the pace & delivers.This is not a jumps in the dark shocker, it is more than that, ..nor is there lots of running from room to room screaming & warding off attackers, ..it knows better than to try that.Yes there are a few cliches, but go with it (no plot spoilers from me, sorry) ..solid acting from professionals not simply mates of a budget tight film crew, the story involves the whole family one by one all affected by a supposed haunting then takes a sharp but successful plot swerve against your expectations, if you get a few minutes past the swimming pool scene (as per the trailer) you will likely stick this movie out & have enjoyed it.If you need out & out gore plus explosions aplenty this likely isn't for you, for the rest of us though... 🎁👍👍👍 a big thumbs up.

After reading some reviews, I was bored and gave this a spin. While the plot all seems pretty cool but formula is traditional and stale. Cheap bumps and sounds to make you jump as a family battles against something it can't see.Stand out moment of stupidity, as in many of these bad movies, is that even after experiencing a full body take over, massive nose bleed, the husband STILL doesn't believe in that Aliens are trying to take over his house.With the standard visit to the expert, who does nothing more than confirm their story the viewer is led down a path in the story as to avoid some 'twist' at the end, which sums up why this mess should never have a sequel, even though that door was left wide open.

Not bad at all, especially for a smaller budget film. The actors portraying a family struggling with general daily life give a very strong and believable performance, including the children, and give the film gravitas and more of a blockbuster feel about it despite this being a smaller film. The films builds very well as their general daily struggles that are typical of many households are intertwined with ever-increasing strange happenings at night which begin to affect them all quite heavily and at first it's easy to think we're dealing with some kind of typical paranormal activity style showdown approaching, but the film pays off extremely well by revealing something of a twist further down the line and with the truth of what's actually happening being revealed the film becomes really very engaging. The films is paced out really well, with the tension and suspense building as more and more is revealed and it's worth sticking it out until things become clearer further into the film.We are not alone!

An average American family is increasingly disturbed by what seem to be alien events.While this film is largely about the existence of aliens and their interaction with humans, there is another story running in parallel which follows the family and how they react in the wake of their own daily issues which are then compounded by the alien menace. This isn't a big budget production but the material has been handled particularly well with good acting and Direction which ensures the alien aspects don't tip over into silliness.Alternate and deleted scenes are included - of particular interest was an alternate ending with Director's commentary which gave further insight into the fate of the family members and how the Director wanted to treat this sensitively.The Blu-ray presentation is very good with clear and crisp video and good dts-HD MA audio although this can be a bit heavy on the bass at times.

At last, a really good scary film..! Been a long time since I saw one as frightening.No messing about here, The suspense & terror soon arrives & if you can imagine thisHappening to your own family, then you’ll know just how unsettling this Film is..., The running time is also about right too.not to drawn out or rushed... Recommended for late night viewing ( Maybe NOT alone) this time.

None of these reviews relate to the film - If I had paid for this film based on the high star ratings I would be requesting a refund. The actual film is a very low budget, painfully slow, tv style film about the unlikely scenario of a unspecified industrial plant causing an acidic highly corrosive rain shower. The scientific incontinuity and awful special effects are too numerous to mention.

I did not have high hopes for this movie but I was completely wrong. It's a superb alien invasion/abbduction scifi. Extremely atmospheric, personal and somehow convincing. Builds slowly but steadily and well worth it. Gave me goosebumps, which does not happen often! Really excellent performances from Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton and the rest of the cast, which includes the always great JK Simmons. Will watch again. 5 stars.

A lot of the ideas in this are stolen out of movies like signs, sinister etc. and done worse actually. They show the aliens way too early and ruin the suspense not to mention the aliens just look stupid. Instead of being the "classic" grey alien look they just look kind of silly. Would have been way scarier if they just silently stalked the familly up until the very end. Then would have made the movie a lot more unsettling. You will see what I mean. Hope you like it anyway, give it a watch.
