i lost my previous hair brush a few days ago when re-arranging my bedroom and hadn't been able to properly brush my hair (i misplaced my back-up folding hair brush a few years ago. i couldn't stand not having tidy hair any longer (thank goodness i sleep with a loose hair bobble to keep my hair in check at night) and i had finally given up finding the old hair brush this morning. it's in a storage box somewhere i'm sure), which is why i got this brush. my hair is thicker and frizzier than normal for white people, and yet prone to breaking and is very oily by default, so i was hesitantly optimistic about this brush. firstly, i love the wooden handle. the shape is very ergonomic and the wood iteself is very smooth. it's great that it doesn't have that awful "tacky" feeling you get from plastic or rubberized handles. the rubber tips of the plastic bristles are very gentle on the scalp and while i prefer ones that are scratchy on the scalp, they will wear down over time, so i'm not upset at all by it. the best feature is absolutely the boar bristles. being about 2/3rds the length of the plastic ones, you can adjust how hard it pulls through your hair by pressing harder, which makes it very intuitive. what makes the boar bristles so damn good is that they keep the removed hair suspended from the base of the brush, which not only makes it very easy to clear, it also stops things like oil and dirt from building up at the bast, which is a problem i've had will all hair brushes so far. once this one eventually gets too old to use, i am DEFINITELY going to buy the same one. i'm normally a very reserved person, but just brushing my hair with this brush had put me in such a great mood, that i couldn't wait to review it --even with ice cream. i took writing this over eating ice cream. i got this at half price (full price as of writing this is 13.99), but even at full price, i'd say this is a steal. given the sheer quality of the brush, i had completely forgotten it had come with a comb as well. i can't wait to use the comb on my hair in the shower.

Finally, a boar bristle brush which actually gets through thick hair! I previously had a boar bristle hair brush which was lovely when used, but didn't always detangle, which is why I often ended up having to use another comb to get out knots, but this brush is almost a two in one with its extra firm brush bristles. I have been using this daily as it is no longer a chore to brush my hair and I actually enjoy doing it and seeing a silky soft mane instead of a frizzy birds nest! My hair is thick and long and many brushes have been listed as 'good for thick hair' but I have tried several in the past and they haven't worked out for me, so maybe not great for really thick hair, but this one certainly is. It is comfortable to hold and use, non slip and effective. Mine came in a box with a comb which I use for clearing excess hair from the brush bristles and a bag of small braid bobbles, which I have yet to use. With this brush I have also noticed minimal hair loss amongst the bristles, it is detangling my hair quite effortlessly which is great, as brushing used to be hard work. All in all this is a great brush and was on offer at £7.50 or so, when I purchased it early in February so also great value for money. Anyone with thick hair looking for a great brush which actually works, look no further. Highly recommend!

Great brush, used straight away and my hair feels amazing. Easy de tangling, solid and feels nice. So much so, I’ve thrown every other hair brush I own out. The only reason I haven’t given it 5 (yet) is purely down to not having it long and not knowing how well it with stand the test of time.
