Perfect for young squires!
We purchased these for Christmas for our two younger boys. They immediately started playing with them and were soon lost in their knighthood training play! Our two are a little older (8 & 9) and take their swordplay quite seriously. The amount of strikes and blows stressed the wood enough that after a couple months the blades cracked and broke about halfway down. But, big brother to the rescue, he sanded them down and they are now daggers!I would still highly recommend them for imaginative play. Great toys!

Cool sturdy swords for the boys
I picked these up on a whim for my boys to play with. They are always breaking their Nerf swords hitting bushes and weeds with them. These looked like they may make it a little longer and weren't much more. They turned out to be better than expected. The sword is all solid wood, with the blade and handle being the same piece. The hilt is held on by the twine and doesn't wobble at all.I was surprised at how light these are with how sturdy they feel. The wood is lightweight jute wood but has held up well to their playing. They've had them since Christmas and they are still going without any damage which has to be a record with my boys. I've caught them hitting saplings and having sword battles and there really is no damage other than some dings in the wood. The blade isn't sharp at all but the carving is great and the boys love them. I have nothing bad to say about this two pack of wooden swords, they are great!

Needs more sandingwork
In general these are pretty good. It's quite rough around the edges though, and they really should sand the pommel more. You can see in the product pictures that it's very squared off and the corners aren't rounded...well, that's the same in real life. These corners dig into your hand when you swing and it hurts immediately. If you're really going at it, and the wood is sturdy enough that you can, you'll likely invite a blister.I'm not a wood expert but it seems like the wood was thoughtfully selected. It's on the softer end of the scale. Hitting things with the sword makes a deeper sound than what would come from a harder wood. This is good, since a harder wood might end up being more brittle, and these swords would just break immediately. The only problem with the soft wood is that they're very prone to denting and scratching. So if you're looking for something cosmetic, this won't be for you.I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like they didn't treat these swords with a lacquer or anything either. I splashed one with water as a test and the water does absorb into the wood. So if you're out in the rain, it's sure to get wet, and if you store it in a humid environment, it may rot.If you have the tools, which I happen to, these swords can probably be made into something really nice. Again, I say you'll need to sand the pommels, and probably many other areas, like in between the hollowed out portion running the length of the blade. Since they're untreated, you can paint or stain them as you want and then lacquer if you want to.Yes, I'm a big kid and will probably do most of these things.

Absolutely love these!
I know these are supposed to be for kids, but I'm a nerd, and I like playing with them myself. One of these days, I'm going to convince my husband to play along like Basil Rathbone and Errol Flynn in Robin Hood, or Inigo Montoya and the Man in Black in Princess Bride. :)

Great little swords!
My son was so happy seeing these arrive in the mail, they are nice and light and have put up with his craziness. He's been playing with them all weekend and the pictures show how the nicks aren't too bad, no splitting. My friend had carved a heavier wood sword that my son just split down the middle, but these seem very well thought out and designed. There is a groove that goes all the way down one side of the blade that i imagine helps out a lot with the splitting aspect. the jute wrapped hilt is so cute, and the jute is also included on the end of the sword in a loop you can easily hang it from when not in use.Great purchase for the little ones, they played pirates with light saber sound effect fights all night!Highly recommended

They are ok
wood could have used a little more sanding, and twine is not the most comfortable thing for a kid to hold... but they would would good as a prop or something to take for a trip or event, overall not bad and a better deal because you get two.

Tip is a little pointy, but overall great wooden sword. Good for kids, and good for practice fights
Per the title, the tip of the wooden sword is a little pointier than I would like for children to be playing with it so I definitely feel that it needs to be sanded down a bit more. But otherwise, the swords are a nice toy/practice tool to train with. The rope on the handle is nice and provides it with a nice grip to hold onto. The swords are also pretty solid so they're good for playing, but also for actual practice duels.

Not worth it.
These are super small, and shoddily made. You can probably make one just as well, but in a reasonable size, and with less chance for splinters. And, I don't even mean the wood itself. The material used to wrap the hilt frays and leave pieces in your hands. Not to fiberglass level, but more than it should. It also isn't wrapped well in the first place. Overall... definitely not worth even $10, much less $25.
