Good for DIY
Everything came together well. Basic steps in photos:1. Put the body on the wire first. Then a flexible tail is put on the wire. Next, solder the wires to the connector. Check functionality.2. The inner case is pushed onto the metal part of the connector and beyond. The voids are filled with hot glue. Hint - apply hot melt adhesive in a thick layer around the green board and then push the inner case. Excess hot soft glue will be cut off by the inner case during the push-in.3. Slightly slide the inner case into the outer shell and apply a couple of drops of superglue on both sides and then push it all the way. A paper towel will come in handy to remove the extruded superglue.4. Done.5. In fact, the short cable is made for charging Garmin from a Samsung phone while traveling (Samsung, at least the S series performs the function of a power bank), but in this configuration, it is difficult to photograph if there is no mirror.

Convert any device to USB-C
Emphasis on *device* as most breakout boards you'll find are configured as hosts. The difference, as shown, is the resistors: subdevice boards will have two 5.1kΩ resistors--one on CC and one on R1/R2 (labeling is inconsistent) while host boards have a single 56kΩ resistor on R2/R1. If you bought the wrong kind, you can always convert from one to the other if you're good with a soldering iron or have the kit for SMT work... or you could just buy the correct board to begin with, and if you're looking to convert a wired keyboard, wireless dongle or Webcam to USB-C, then **this is the listing to buy!**Bonus of this board is that the V+ and GND pads have contacts on both sides, giving you plenty of room to work. And yes, as the first picture shows, I did use this to build a webcam for the Steam Deck. It was completely plug & play on Linux, detected automatically on first plug in, and I've already started using this for telehealth appointments in Firefox running in Gaming Mode.

Work, strain relief is too small.
Work well, G and V pads are small though. the strain relief tube is too small for anything over say 28 AWG wire.

Housing for the connector doesn’t work but the connector does.
As far as the connector and electronics go it works. Had to figure out the correct order for the wires. My kid broke her usbc gaming mouse connector and I chose this to replace it. The wires were white, yellow, green, blue. Different than what I found online so I took apart the old connector to get that correct order. The plastic housing for this is complete crap. It doesn’t lock together and didn’t stay in place so the plug got pushed in and didn’t go into the computer. I ended up trying super glue but it didn’t stick to the plug. So I used instamorph moldable plastic to create a housing. Works great.

It worked
It took 3 to find one that worked. I could not verify if the resistor was actually 5.1k but it finally worked. I converted a drawing tablet reciever from type A to type C.

Delicate-be cautious of the pads lifting/breaking
These are as-expected... but I did destroy 2 of them with a pad (one D- and one D+ on another) lifting. I thought I was being gentle and have not had this issue with other delicate electronics.

No instructions on assembly
I like that they are just like factory ends. I don't like the fact that they aren't fast charging compatible. The soldering connection can be found online no problem. Don't have no instructions on how to put the housing together to keep the usb c plug in place so I had to use super glue definitely don't like to use that.

Be careful about specs when buying.
Ordered them with the expectation to repair multiple cables I had instead of buying new ones. However these don't work for my needs. They came fine. Just wrong specs for my devices.

Utile
