Works and provides a nice clean smell. You know it's working.
It's been over 90 days. I've been using this little gadget every day. Though I still don't understand how it supposedly can cover 600 square feet... however, I know it works because when I enter our tv room which is connected to the kitchen, it smells clean and fresh.I did not use the Essential Oil it came with because from the smell, and as a candle / soap maker, I know it is not authentic Lavender Oil.I use Lemon, Lavender and all sort of EOs - and this little gadget does indeed make the room smell fresh and you can see that it does clean the air because you can see the water is either brownish or gray.I also love the purple light [we only turn that on at night.]CONSIt is a bit noisy especially when you turn it up. I just turn on the machine in the evenings, turn it off for a few hours in the morning and back on again when we leave for work. So the noise doesn't really bother us.We are happy with our purchase. I am hoping it will last longer than a year.

Do not waste money on those little bottles that the product suggests
I'd seen these around before and was always curious. Now I own one and here's my 2 cents on it:*side note: I ordinarily use the scented oils that you use for a Diffuser. There is a difference between diffuser oil and oils used for heating. Heating oils will mix with the water and start to become very sudsy. No bueno. Diffuser oil will not "mix" with the water, and the scent will endure for much longer. Do not waste money on those little bottles that the product suggests. The ones that it came with hardly left a noticeable scent in a small bathroom.PROS: if you use diffuser oil, the scent will in fact spread itself throughout a well ventilated house or apartment. What I love about this product is that while the smell is noticeable and very present, it is at the same time subtle and not overpowering. Go to Walmart and buy the Linen scented diffuser oil (where all the potpourri and candles are), you will be so pleased on how refreshing the house will smell. Also, even at running at full power, the globe does not produce a whole lot of sound, and after a few minutes or so, it will be something that you don't even notice. The sound is a lot like a gentle "swishing" noise, so that even may be relaxing in itself.CONS: Whether or not you use the preferred oil, or any oil at all, there will be tiny particles of water that will inevitably collect on the interior of the top portion of the globe. While I am confident at this point that the electronics are protected from any water damage, it is a bit difficult to clean, as after a lot of use, the dust and other particles that get mixed with the water will start to collect on the inside, and frankly, it just looks like it's something that should be cleaned off. This is very difficult and labor intensive, unless the device is built to allow you to simply run the whole thing under a hot tap...something I have yet to do.But overall, the globe works amazingly. Money aside, I believe that this is one of best air "revitalizers" or "fresheners" that you can possibly own, due to it's overall effectiveness. I purchased on for my uncle, who will forever be smoking inside of his very small trailer, and I can honestly say that after a few minutes of running on his kitchen counter, the globe had done a serious number at making the place smell less like an ashtray. This is not an air purifier--it will not remove offensive odors and particulates from the air, but I think it does a stellar job of replacing them, if not "masking" them altogether.

I bought 2
They are wonderful. You can see the dirt it is collecting at the bottom. Only complaint is its not bigger. Its holds 2 cups.

Great Air Purifier and "White Noise" machine
I originally bought the smaller version, but upgraded to the larger unit because I liked how it worked. The smaller unit had a single on/off button on the top, while this one has a dial with adjustable speed. The smaller one had a blue LED light that never turned off (which I had to remove), while this one has a handy on/off switch.Other than those 2 differences, this unit is basically a larger version of the one I already had, but they both work great. The "wooshing" works great as a white noise to sleep to, it removes dust and pollen from the air like nobody's business. The only downside is that you have to change the water every other day (same with the smaller version), but the water is basically the "filter", so that makes sense.Sometimes the wet dust forms a "snot" inside the funnel, and you have to rinse it out or use a small brush or something to clean in out, or else the funnel gets clogged. You'll notice when the water doesn't "woosh" anymore. I recommend this product for everyone.

Did Not work for me.
It kind of works as a night light, sometimes it flickers. Working on maximum the water makes waves, in my night stand with glass top, it runs over towards the electric extension I have on the floor, had to put rubber legs. It works as an aromatizer, spreads smell over my studio. It being an air purifier it's an overstatement. Maybe for a closet. Between what it claims to do and what it really does, it's too expensive. PoS. My stepmother owed a RainMate, I thought it would work like it: not even close. The central mechanism on this thing fills up with the residues (may be dirt/sediment) that it pulls while it sucks the water up: a Q tip may help cleaning, vinegar did not help me remove the water deposits stains. The fact that it loses water from max to min on a single night use may indicate that it kind of works as a humidifier. I don't know how much water it adds up to the air, haven't measured it (max to min), and then I wonder whether that amount is enough for it to be considered a humidifier.

Removes Odors and Dust from the Air
Great low-power air cleanser that is effective at removing odors and dust from the air. My only caveats are that you have to fill it up and clean it often. I fill it up twice a day and I clean it once every week or two to remove calcium deposits. You have to be careful not to get any liquids in the inside of the lid when cleaning it. I am willing to put this work in though, because it gets a lot of dust out of my room and I save money by not having to replace a filter. This product works great as an essential oil diffuser, but you will have to clean it more frequently if you use essential oils in it.

Stopped working after 6 months
Got this 6mos ago and suddenly it stopped working. I use it maybe few times a week when I cook. The light is working but the water stopped turning. Very disappointed.
