They took on the challenge of creating new orchestrations capable of resonating with today's ears without compromising the nostalgia of their predecessors. By technically isolating her voice, they have allowed the refrains of yesteryears to prove that they remain as immortal as their interpreter. Edith Piaf's iconic voice was meticulously extracted from the original masters by a team of sound engineers working at the legendary Abbey Road studio in London. The album, on the other hand, was recorded at the prestigious AIR Studios, also located in London.

Pre ordered the CD and it arrived on the 13th first day of issueI was a tad worried what they had done to the songs. I needn't have been. Whoever has done the orchestrations it must have been a Labour of love,. The orchestra is superb. Totally different but totally in keeping. Piaf sounds as though she recorded these tracks yesterday. Clear perfect soundThe tracks are well chosen from the vast catalog.Just hope the album is popular. It deserves to be. Be great if this is just the first of a number of her cd /songs to get this treatment

Fantastique!
How fabulous to hear Piaf’s fantastic voice backed by a modern orchestra and the clarity is astounding. One could carp about the choice of songs being predictable but hey, they’re her most popular ones and the most likely ones to draw in new listeners. I love it!

A must-have for Edith Piaf fans
The sound quality of this album is amazing. Edith's voice sounds the same as on my vintage records. What is different here is the modern recording of the orchestra. It is bright and vivid. When combined with Edith's voice, it is magical. All of my favorites on one album. If you don't know who Edith Piaf is, you are truly missing out. Edith lives again. . .
