Not too bad. I can't trust my memory to go back to childhood, and really remember how much I liked this stuff (I must have, I ordered this). It's a waxy/sticky bundle of joy (depending on the weather on delivery day). Taste is of course subjective, I liked it for what it is (not a gourmet adventure). This brand is a bit "better" (to me) compared to others I have tried (in my pursuit of childhood). Taste and texture were within my expectations. If you're lucky and heat is not a big factor where you are, this should give a pleasent enough feeling. Would order again.

I usually buy Gustafs strawberry rope licorice , but this was cheaper.. now I know why. I was so hopeful after reading reviews of this strawberry licorice! Oh! The disappointment! An "almost edible" disaster. Apparently they do not have ANY sort of quality control and clearly do not give one tiny poo about their reviews because the few negative reviwere right. But alas. I must expound on my dismay of this product and poo is a great place to start. It tastes like a combination of artificial strawberry (not that there is anything wrong with that) artificial strawberry mixed with 90% alcohol hand sanitizer. Most of it does. There where a few, very few, pieces I was able to pry off of the 2lb glob of stiff-stuck-together "licorice", had initially given me hope... only to be dashed against the rocks.. I mean, dashed against the hard 2lb glob of stiff, stuck together mess that they have the audacity to call licorice ! Of course, it could have been the burning numbness of the hand sanitizer flavor that further confused my tastebuds. THIS CRAP does not taste anything like the stuff that we ate in the seventies and eighties! And that makes me sad. It was hard, bunched together in a stiff glob and trying to pull a "rope" off was a misguided effort. It broke off in pieces and parts..and is just yuck. I took a chance with this brand as there are not many options, and it was a complete waste of money. I'm actually kind of afraid to throw it away as it may possibly contaminate the garbage. Or grow. Grow into a horror worse than the beast on 'stranger things'. I may however keep it around to light the logs in my fireplace. If it has an alcohol content anything like it tastes (not in a good way) it will burn like the fire in the pants of all the reviewers on here that say it is tasty. I will be buying GUSTAFS from here on out, even if it costs more, it is worth it. THIS STUFF SUCKS. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

It’s so chewy, fruity & continuous fun of non stop eating up those long candy shoelaces lol never knowing how long of a string your gonna be still chewing on in length & size and the best is it’s so yummy and you get a decent amount in the bag size for what it costs which isn’t too bad in price either for tht great value and it’s always fresh never stale and addicting too.

Been searching for this for a long time. It’s the closest tasting to old strawberry shoelaces licorice from the 60-70s bought for me by my grandfather. This has a nice tart strawberry flavor. Everything else tastes like plastic or twizzlers. Will buy again but plenty in this 2lb bag Update: we’ve bought this multiple times and it has had a different taste and diameter per lace each time Some times too sweet. It’s a bit disappointing that the taste and size is always consistent and the recipe is always the same. What we preferred is when it was a bit more tart but it seems like we can’t get the same product each time

The candy is delicious! Reminds me of when I was a kid. The first batch was amazing, it was fresh and pulled apart so easily. The 2nd bag was fresh and it pulled apart okay with some pieces sticking together. The 3rd bag was all stuck together and broke apart when trying to pull them apart. The candy was fresh, soft and the flavor is awesome. The candy maker needs to come up with a better way to package it so it doesn’t stick together!! It’s definitely worth giving it a try!

It tastes better than I thought it would taste. It was fresh and noticeably strawberry. I usually like Gustof licorice but I tried this kind because it is less expensive. I will buy it again! Update. 5/31/25 This is the 5th package I bought and it does not taste like any of the others. It is waxy and does not have much taste. It is very strange because it is the same company but clearly not the same product. It makes me wonder if they're getting licorice from more than one source. That is how different this tastes from the others that I already received. I would give this product a two. The taste is not good and it feels waxy. I would not buy it again if this is how it will taste and feel.

This product is very inconsistent in color, texture, and flavor. This latest "batch" was a faint red which looked like it was out in the sun too long. There was also no flavor, as was the case with the last three purchases. I will not be buying it again.
